Taking my two boys on a baseball trip and can’t decide how much time to spend in Pittsburg. Obviously game and hopefully ballpark tour. Then what? Saw that United 93 memorial isn’t far but does anyone have any suggestions? Boys 11 and 9

Pittsburgh is a surprisingly great city, and the ballpark there is a gem. Kids may enjoy the Heinz Museum and the incline rail up to Mt Washington.

The cathedral of learning at the Pitt is pretty cool to walkthrough

There is the Carnegie Museum of Natural History that is really good.

Oh yeah, in that same area near Pitt/Carnegie, there's a section of the outfield wall from Forbes Field.

Yep, we went up to visit a friend that moved there after getting married. It was a great long weekend of eating, drinking and sports.

We visited the old field and also took that ballpark tour, which got us access to everything but the locker room because it was a game day. We say the dugout, the suites, the batting cages etc. Don't miss the backstage baseball tour.

I went a couple of years ago when my wife was going there for a conference. She was in meetings all day and I Ubered around the city solo for a few days. People there are super nice when you tell them you're from out of town visiting. Very proud of their city and happy to give tips and recommendations.

We stopped in downtown Pittsburgh for lunch once while traveling. We went to the Market Square which had many restaurants in the area. An information center is not far too.

Ant it's not far from Point State Park which 9 & 11 year old boys might like.

I lived in Pittsburgh in my High School years. It was an excellent place to live, despite my hating the idea of moving there.

Take your boys white water rafting on the Ohiopyle River. It's got some good rapids. You can also check out Fallingwater - one of Frank Lloyd Wright's more famous houses.

Both are in the same direction as United 93.

I french kissed and got a hand job from LaChelle Green in the 7th grade. She was from Pittsburgh and I think moved back. I've been to that city a few times and often wondered what became of her. She was

the guys in this thread have been money.

Went in 2009 to see a game out there and still on my top 3 parks i've visted. the backdrop looks almost fake...one of the most underrated parks in all of MLB.

The OG Permanti Bros is def a must, that whole little area was pretty neat... definitely a surprisingly nice city.

We ended up driving over to Cleveland and catching a game there as well while also doing the NFL HOF and stopping in Akron to see STVM and some other cool stuff...great guys trip

**Pitt's campus is also very nice. would go check out while there as well. Lots of Triple D type places, do a little research and eat good!

Gaucho Parilla was my favorite restaurant there. Great Argentine food. I didn't get the hype for Primanti Bros, but it's almost a must when there. Pamela's Diner for breakfast was good.

For bars, we enjoyed Coghlan's Law in Mt Washington. Candado Tacos also had a cool atmosphere. Tacos were just okay. We did Southern Tier Brewery before a Pirates game and it was fine. Sienna Mercato was a decent place to dip in for a beer or two.

Good quick trip to Pittsburgh. I really liked the city. Easy to get around. No traffic. People were friendly. Great downtown and mtn views with several cool neighborhoods.

We stayed in an Airbnb on the top of Mt Washington. A little out of the way but easy to get where we needed to.

Took the Duquesne Incline down once. A little underwhelming but worth doing I guess. Looked liked the line at the bottom was 45 mins or so. Would not have done that. By the way, really cool view from top of the mountain. LINK

Two cool art installations. The Max Vanka murals at St. Nicholas Croatian Church: LINK

And Randyland: LINK

I enjoyed both and would recommend checking them out if either looks interesting to you.

We also went to the Conservatory. Not really my thing but my group liked it. And we wanted to got the Carnegie art museum but didn’t make it.

Went to a game at PNC. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Huge crowd (which shocked everyone I think, particularly the vendors inside the stadium who were overwhelmed). Street party beforehand. Lots of people in the street, bars. Pirates walked it off against the Phillies. Good time. Bought tics on Stubhub, 20 rows up behind third base for half what they would have cost from the club.

I wanted to take the shuttle across the river to the park but it wasn’t running. Uber was easy, took it to downtown, and was glad I got to walk across the Clemente bridge.

Ate a very good meal at Della Sala’s Pizza Shop. I loved it but had a connection to the family that owns it so I’m probably biased. To go only. Will also half cook one if you want to finish it at home/Airbnb. Definitely get the sausage. LINK

Also at at a local breakfast chain that I enjoyed, Pamela’s Diner: LINK

And drinks/casual dinner at a brewery in an old Catholic Church: LINK Great space. Beer was okay.

Hope to get back soon. Will probably try to hit up some higher end restaurants to give the food scene a good try.
