Why don’t you just glue it with weld on? I’m a plumber apprentice and always use glue for pvc to brass connections. You have to let it set for 15 minutes, but I’ve never had a problem doing it that way.

I haven’t heard anyone use apprentice in a long time. Good for you man. Learn it right, get your Master Plumbers license and as long as you are willing to work you will make a great living. I know some very well off Plumbers.
Best of luck. Good Plumbers are hard to find.

I’ve plumbed for many years-I’ve always used old school yellow Rectorseal. I’ve never glued the pvc to brass. But-if it works for you-good deal. Glad to hear you’re an apprentice. We need good tradesmen in the field. Stay in your plumber’s back pocket with everything. Ask questions often.

Absolutely not, I dont know what jack leg plumbers you work with but that is the most rat advice I've ever heard. If that is what your journeyman is teaching you ask for a new one, that guy is a bum.
A 3/4 npt brass hose bib will thread into a 3/4 PVC female npt . The casting in the brassor female adpt. may be bad or user error. The way you were trying to do it was the correct way.

The pvc you put primer on it to get a good bond with the glue, how is the glue bonding to a metal such as brass??
