Before 2016, I can’t remember political threads leaking over as much into other boards as much as they do now. In fact, if there were political threads, usually about politics in sports, it seemed to be most of the MSB were posting about how they wanted less politics on the MSB/OT, etc and less politics in sports.

Now you can go through most of the major boards on here and there’s 2-3 threads of outrage. And if not 2-3 threads, 2-3 posts by some members trying to drag politics into every facet of conversation.

Hmm. It's almost as if those people are reacting to some facets of sports that have changed, particularly in the last 9 months or so. I wonder what happened.

It’s happened more since 2016 and peaked within the last two years, even before COVID and George Floyd. The point is, people didn’t really care about those things on TD as much as they do now. People on here didn’t hardly give a second thought to politics or any conversation about it outside of PT.

When Trayvon Martin was killed in 2012, those threads were mostly contained to PT and a couple on the OT. If something was posted on the MSB, particularly when LeBron and the Heat wore hoodies to a game or something, it went a couple pages and died down. People didn’t want politics on the MSB then but there weren’t threads upon threads about it. Now it’s left and right politics being interchanged daily on multiple boards, likely due to an influx of Trump supporters post 2016. Before then, people really just came on here to bullshite and have fun talking about a shite ton of different topics on so many different boards from movies and tv and video games to random shite on the OT and sports on the MSB, SEC Rant and Tiger Rant.

Now it’s filled mostly with people bitching across every board. I like to believe people came on TD, at least I know I did, to escape from the day to day and have some fun connecting and laughing at stupid shite that gets lost in the shuffle.
