To simply answer the OPs question:

Vaccines usually offer more protection than natural immunity. There are some viruses where natural immunity is better, such as mumps and measles

The covid-19 vaccine at this time appears to offer stronger antibody response than natural infection, but they will need more time to conclusively state that

I’ll pass on trusting big pharma “at this time.”

In short, any data being bandied about is subject to change moving forward. I sincerely hope that the industry got it right. That being said, I’m not sure why I should trust these companies under these extraordinary circumstances.
