Best washer that’s not Speed Queen

Time to replace my washer/dryer. What’s worth a damn these days that’s not a Speed Queen (I know they’re built like tanks, but I don’t need a tank.)
Looking for reliable, excellent cleaning.
Don’t want a front load unless someone can convince me that they don’t stink in high humidity areas where they won’t necessarily dry out between uses.
TIA

Whirlpool gets high marks, just don't expect it to last 20 years. Hell, 10 years is iffy.
I'm on year 10 of a Cabrio, and it's on its third set of drum bearings, plus a few other misc parts.

My old Kenmore Elites performed nicely for over 15 years. Recently crapped out. I got more Kenmore Elites. I'm pleased with so far.

We've got LG. They are cheaply made, dents all over it (wife standing on it to get something off the top shelf in the LR), make weird noises. It was my wife's choice and she paid for them so I wasn't going to question it. So in a very few years I'm planning on going back with Maytag. We had those for 15 years and with the exception of the drum bearings that I replaced once, they were great.

Maytag
I have the older version of this. Wanted a toploader with an agitator instead of an impeller. It had the largest capacity and very good reviews. I think we've had it about 3 years now, no complaints. Bought the matching dryer. We have some cabinets we built over our washer/dryer back when we had frontloaders, so I wanted something that would let me access the controls easily, and fit under the cabinets.

Whirlpool top loading washer, model WTW4955HW
Whirlpool dryer, model WED49STBW, this model has a drop down door that I prefer to a swing door because the drop down door doubles as sort of a work shelf when adding or removing clothes. This model also has a steam setting which I think is sort of odd and unnecessary, and I don't like the idea of connecting a water hose from the washing machine cold water hose to the dryer. So, I did not run a water hose to the dryer, and we don't use that setting on the dial. Whirlpool has two 7-cu.ft. dryer models with a swing door (as opposed to drop down door) and no steam setting for about $50 less.
All at Lowe's.
We really like the washer and dryer a lot.

If I didn't have a Speed Queen, I would consider Whirlpool or Maytag, and with as little digital and electronic stuff as possible. We have a Speed Queen washer and a Whirlpool drier, and both are rock solid.
