I'm in NY which has been hard hit, but I personally only know of one person who was a friend of a friend who died. She was 44. I know a few who have had it.
Got the Pfizer first shot yesterday with only a little soreness in my arm.

Nobody knows. Less than people have reported, for sure.

It will take years to audit the data but the way deaths were coded changed in March. I'm sure they will attempt to get a true death number you just won't hear the media talk about it and it will be years away. There were legal and financial incentives for hospitals to code patients covid positive so the number will probably always be inflated in some facet.

Yep. My guesstimate is that our excess deaths for 2020 will be somewhere in the 225k range.

The CDCs mortality report for 2020 won’t be released until January of 2022.

I said last March/April we wouldn’t know the true Covid19 deaths until the CDC released total deaths in 2020.....My guesstimate is 100-200k actually died directly from Covid19.

Someone sent your dad incorrect numbers.
According to the CDC, just through September of last year the US had 3,165,000 million deaths. I am sure that once you factor in oct, nov, dec it will be much higher.
Fake news though.

But from looking at our hospital “covid” deaths Id say maybe 75% of the covid deaths really were primarily from covid

Looking at raw numbers, before 2020 came along, there are X numbers of Americans who die each year, from various causes...like heart disease, strokes, Parkinson’s, kidney disease, influenza/pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, hypertension, etc. Looking at 2020, and the obscene numbers of deaths attributed to Covid, and the absence of the annual X numbers of deaths from the other causes normally reported as such, one must be left to conclude that the usual causes are the main cause for death. The complicating or accompanying factor may be the presence of Covid in each such patient/victim. Not the other way around, as the OMB media has erroneously reported it since day one. Another way to look at it, Medicare has been paying bounties to hospitals and med centers for each death attributed to Covid.

Really? Here are all deaths in LA. You can clearly see that we are way over the normal average death rate.

Here's the whole US death rate from 2017 through Jan of 2021. There is an obvious spike in total deaths that goes well beyond the average, and it coincides with the waves of covid cases.

Medicare doesn't pay a hospital based on how death is coded on a death certificate. It pays the hospital based on the care/equipment/medicine that was used/documented in the persons chart while the person was alive in the hospital.
It's a lot more expensive to be put on a ventilator than not - and the average length of stay for someone who is put on a ventilator can be weeks longer than someone who isn't on a vent. Every day in the hospital costs more, too. It's also lot more expensive to stay in the ICU than a general bed. Just a few examples of many.
