Obviously I am going to do a huge diet change but wanted some thoughts. LDL of 219, HDL of 56, tri of 136, total 300. I am wondering how much I can truly bring it down with diet alone or if due to genetics I won't be able to bring it down into normal ranges. I am 5'10" 190 lbs.

It’s not genetics.
Eat right.
Exercise.
It’ll be down in weeks
*I’m 5’10” and was 184. Had the same issues.
My doc was blown away next time he saw me.

What did you change in diet? Mediterranean style?

Doesn't matter, lose 20 lbs in whatever way you choose

Start lifting weights...seriously lifting...committed. Start now. I wish I started when I was 29. Check out the GSLP thread here...it has made a huge difference in my life and my wife’s...and we old. Do some cardio on the days between. All good things in all good time.

I pretty much drank regular cokes all day and ate nothing but candy and chips at night. Fast food for lunch every day. I stopped all that.
Cardio and lifting weights pushed me through the plateau.

See I don’t do any of that. Water, coffee, alcohol and a halfway ok diet. Meaning I’ll eat below average for lunch but super healthy for dinner.

Got my test results back 2 months ago.. cholesterol 231, tri around 300.
Started eating salads for lunch, drink V8 hydrate in the morning before coffee, oatmeal for breakfast, no more junk food.
Dinner is usually grilled chicken with vegetables, turkey burgers, salmon..etc
I hate running so I walk for 30 minutes every night. I am down 10lbs and will redo my blood work in early March but if nothing else I feel allot better.
Also started taking once a day multivitamin.
