Vineyard 7 & 8 (ask if they have rose of CS; if so, you'll want to buy some)
7&8 is a great wine that you won't ever see on the shelves. Would love to visit their place. Don't know if they had fire damage.

Personally we enjoy the smaller places to the bigger commercial stuff, but will do both.
Check out Rafanelli. You’ll love it.

I can't believe no one has recommended Caymus. It is one of the only wineries that roll the tasting fee into credit towards buying bottles.

Most of the good wineries do this, if you ask. I am not a Caymus fan. Too much production and very little quality. I do like their Red Schooner Malbec - probably my favorite US Malbec (although grapes picked in Argentina).

Caymus is way too ff and overextracted but to each their own.

I think it is overpriced for what it is. People just buy it for name in my honest opinion

It’s the Nickelback of NAPA cabs. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it is. I did pick up couple 2019’s as I heard it was excellent harvest and really good year. Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars....

They are open as is Fisher. That area of the mountain was somehow spared.
ETA: 7&8 is a must visit. Their set up is pretty bad arse. They also serve homemade cookies right out of the oven along with the usual cheese and crackers.

Schramsberg, Chateau Montelena, Inglenook, Duckhorn, and Arista are our favorites.
Also had a blast just walking around Sonoma square and popping in to tasting rooms.

Not a Caymus fan either but then again I don't like big fruit bombs. I prefer a more refined wine which is probably why most of what I own is Italian with some French sprinkled in.

But there is a place for fruit bombs right out the bottle. Not always, but many times it’s like Led Zeppelin fans who hate Stone Temple Pilots because they are from the 90’s. Both make great music. (I realize I overuse music analogies)
I think Del Dotto does the best with blending the NAPA bomb and world old refined wine styles, at least for my palette. My only gripe is maybe they release wines too soon.

Yep! The 2012 vintage from respected Napa producers are perfect for this. Pop and pour--bam.

Another good example of this style is Caldwell. They too release a lot of their blends relatively early, but also hold those that truly need the time.
JFC uses and produces a LOT of different varietals. Their wine
One of the few in the valley that release a PV--it's delicious. He's also been making a Tannat for years that is incredible (VABuckeye--this is right up your alley).

There's absolutely a place for them. It's just not my personal preference.

Try out goosecross. Small but great wines. To eat definitely recommend ad hoc fried chicken, also farmstead at long meadow ranch

And eat at Gott's Roadside but if you've been there you know this already.

Came here to post this. One of the few that I still belong to. Get 2 cases every year. Unbelievable stuff.
Would also recommend Reynolds. Small boutique we have enjoyed in the past.
