Ferguson was INFINITELY better than hawthorne, the absolute worst. Back in the Ferguson days, we were rarely on tv. I have wonderful memories of Ferguson on the radio on Saturdays in the fall. As a kid, me and my buddies would shoot hoops with the game blaring on the radio.

Should be able to spell the name of your instrument, right?

I think they doubled our total yardage that game but we made the most of our opportunities and they squandered theirs.

My seats that game were next to the LSU band. At the end of the game, when LSU was running out the clock, the band played the Ghostbusters theme. It made me forget how cold and wet I was!

This is the 1st Bama game I remember as a kid, I was only 7yo at the time so It may be the 1st LSU Game I remember period! Pretty sure its because of the T-Shirts "We kicked Bama's arse 20-10!!
I was 7 yo & remember thinking I was cool bc my parents let me buy the shirt & wuld allow me to wear it as well (selectively I'm sure)!

As bad as TV was back then, I wonder what it will be like 40 years from now?

To practice for games on turf we would practice at the track stadium , it was also hard as a rock .

I was there! The game was held up for about an hour because a tornado hit Birmingham. We lost at State the next week 16-14. They had a backup QB form Bogalusa names Orlando McDaniel (I think) and he ran all over us.

Games like these are what should be on SEC Network on occasion. Instead of the constant repeats of "SEC Now".

I never played college football, but I remember going to the Oyster Bowl (usually VA tech, vmi w&m or temple played) in Norfolk, VA back in the mid 80s. We could walk down to the corner of the endzone in pre game. The artificial turf was laid down on top of a concrete slab. I didn't notice ANY type of pad between the turf and the concrete. That had to be HELL to play on. At least today's artificial turf resembles grass to an extent.

Close, it was Orlando "Butter" Lundy from Bogalusa. I saw him play in HS. You're getting confused with Orlando McDaniel, who was a really good WR for LSU in the late 70s - early 80s. Sadly, he passed away from COVID last year.
Orlando McDaniel passes away
