There really is merit to the idea of separating the head of state role away from the head of government. The brits and monarchists in general have the right idea about that.
Remember the "Not my President!!!" nonsense about Trump? That's rooted in liberals recognition that Donald Trump was just elected as Head of State and was going to be the face of the United States of America.
That's one symptom of the toxic political climate we have right now.
