well were lower, so obviously a hell of a lot more flooding...this storm may not be as big as katrina, but the winds could be stronger..im expecting it to be a low category 4/high category 3 cane by the time it makes landfall

Must be since Andrew was much worse than Isabel and Charley. What I was getting at was that the flooding and damage from the wind was worse for Andrew than what I saw in Isabel and Charley.

I was in the lower 9th Ward when Katrina passed. Unimaginable violence...

That's a great attitude...cause getting out "early" Sunday will be quite a trick, as if it is coming, evacs will be in overdrive by then...

Flying in at 10:30 on Friday and out at 10:30 on Sunday.......

I can only pray that this thing doesn't go anywhere near NO...not for me getting in and out but because I spent some time in the lower 9th and saw what happened there.

Andrew was not a gulf coast storm when it hit the east coast of Dade county Florida. The damage there was incredibly catostrophic.Economic losses in Dade were larger than in Patterson La, when Andrew struck for the second time. Gulf storms worse than east coast storms?? No. I think they are equally as devastating and neither should be downplayed.

Actually, I have been through one in the gulf and one in the outer banks, and one in Charleston. Yea, it gets rough but not nearly as compared to the ones in the gulf

What it would be is the Texas effect. The closer you get to Texas, the bigger stuff gets.
