Omar's office said her new position was being announced Thursday in Washington. The panel's full name is the Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations.
"Upholding basic human rights around the world is a core priority for me and the Fifth District of Minnesota," Omar, a Democrat, said in a prepared statement. "As someone who represents a large African diaspora community and is the first African-born immigrant to serve in Congress, I am particularly excited to play a leadership role in overseeing our international aid and foreign policy on the continent."

No one here (me included) likes this woman, but can we set aside the partisan outrage for JUST a moment?
I do not pretend to be an expert on House committee assignments, but is there any non-freshman in the majority party who is NOT at least VICE-chair of some SUB-committee SOMEWHERE in the House?
There are 20 full committees and approximately 100 standing sub-committees, plus temporary and ad hoc committees and subcommittees, right? That is AT LEAST 240 chairs and vice-chairs. There are only 221 Dems in the entire House.
Realistically, the Dems kinda HAD to give her something. They gave her VICE-Chair of a not-very-important SUB-committee.
I do not pretend to be an expert on House committee assignments, but is there any non-freshman in the majority party who is NOT at least VICE-chair of some SUB-committee SOMEWHERE in the House?
