Are they considered the 2nd best picks in the league?

I don't know enough about each pick to have a stance but an interested in hearing why.

I feel like some of these picks are overrated
Yes because we have the most of them.

Teams can only offer their own picks every other year so they're limited in how many 1sts they can add to a deal.

Other than OKC, we have more future 1sts than any other team out there.

There's also more value in the bundle than in each individual pick. It's hard to put a value on the 2024 Lakers pick individually. But if I asked you what are the chances in the next 7 years that

* LeBron, AD or Giannis lose most of a season to injury
* LeBron declines and does a Kobe style farewell tour while clogging the cap to keep AD from having help
* Giannis demands a trade before his new contract is up.

I think you'd say the chances aren't terrible that something like that happens and one of those picks is great. So there's value in the bundle, but that value is hard to trade unless you trade most of your picks.

And this is one of the examples I was thinking of when you all typed it out about Simmons not thinking through his logic or opinions.

Because fine, its fair at this point to say the return from the Lakers is less valuable today than when it happened, undeniably. The fourth pick became two guys that haven't shown they have a place in this league, and may never, and the Lakers don't look like they will be breaking up any time soon, so those picks look more like late firsts. HOWEVER, if Simmons just stopped and said, well, where does that ultimately put the Pels in terms of asset capital? Well the answer is still basically top 5 in the league.

Since we have all our firsts, we have the Bucks picks, we have the Lakers picks, and we have a mix of salary, all-star level, and young talent that can match or make an offer.

I mean if we want Beal, regardless of what people would prefer to give up or not, he's on this team the moment he becomes available. If we want him bad enough. The same goes for the next guys on the docket like KAT, Lavine, McCollum, Irving, Turner, hell, Giannis if it got to that.

I'm not saying the likely cost makes it the smart thing to do(someone like Giannis probably costs Ingram and Kira plus most of our picks), but the Pels have the inside track, maybe even above OKC because we do have someone like Ingram and Zion on the roster to maneuver(again, in a theoretical assessment of asset capital to build around our main star).
