Eh, there have been quite a few big safety's that have had great careers in the NFL, and a few of them played for LSU.

Are you telling me that Chad Jones, and Laron Landry weren't great safety's at LSU? Both were over 215lb safety's at LSU and Landry got much bigger in the NFL.

A bigger dude at safety is an advantage not a disadvantage as long as they don't sacrifice speed for size. If you can keep your speed then being a bigger dude at safety is a good thing.

Think about how much the game has changed since then. Landry would be a linebacker in modern college football.
