Having a conversation with the wife last night while searching for a movie to watch. As the Cruises, Damon’s, Afflecks, Pitts, DiCaprios, Hanks, etc get older, and the networks, series concepts, and movies become so saturated...will we ever see guys like those again or are ‘celebrity’ actors a thing of the past?

Seems like every young Hollywood ‘Star’ is more of a one hit wonder or has a very short run at the top. With all the saturation I’m guessing they can’t call their own shots anymore and the cheaper version is right around the corner as quantity seems to be preferred over quality these days.

Hollywood has been over since the years of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.

The Ben Affleck generation was shite compared to the previous "Hollywood stars".

It seems like the only studio making A list stars nowadays is Marvel.

The younger generations don’t give a frick about actors and because of Covid Amazon is throwing money at anyone to pump out movies.

Well, at least In the past there was a bucket of actors that when searching for a movie to watch I could land on one they were in and there was a pretty good chance I’d enjoy it.

Now I search for movies to watch and don’t know any of the ‘stars’ in them so I randomly pick something that appears to have a decent storyline. There’s a pretty good chance I’m about to be disappointed.

The best movies stopped being made by the time the 1980s started rolling in. The last decent movies were probably made in the 90s. Practically anything in the last 20+ years is going to be total dogshit. (Maybe you'll find one or two good movies here or there, but that's about it.)

I mostly agree. All movies these days are superhero (although I love all Batman movies - even the shitty Schumacher ones) or a reboot. Can’t remember the last original movie I really enjoyed.

There used to be a time when actors and actresses were viewed as low class. Hollywood changed that with good pr, but actors remain the immoral scum they've always been.

Because “liberals” and absolutely EVERYTHING has to be about politics. It’s insane.

We’re at the end of a transition period to many more production avenues, via streaming services.

And all the theaters are shut down.

If you want the honest answer, Jim carrey and his I'lk ruined it for the big time a-listers. They started demanding $20 million a picture. Then the studios started learning they could make a fortune with indy films where the talent didn't matter as much as the story and the budget.

Been trending that way for a while now.

Chris Pine & Chris Pratt seem like 2 of the new A-list actors.

Actress: no idea.

This. Pick 10 random actors/actresses and go look at their Wikipedia bio. You’ll find the majority of them have some family member that is either in the film industry or well connected (multi millionaire). Then the realization that all this “white privilege” talk we’ve had rammed down middle America’s throat is all perpetuated by the elite class who actually benefited from a rigged system. That is why Hollywood acts the way they do.

You're either woke or you're not now. No such thing as A-list.
