How can anyone be upset with this part of the statement?

What an idiotic question.
1) His team already knows the arguments are shite.
2) Trump won't have a legit defense, as he is no longer President.
If Bill Cassidy can't be bothered to watch the video's of Trump's speeches that day, and contrast those statements with statements from The VP Whore, then he's not only wrong, he's a douchebag.
Not only that, this idiot already knows how he's going to vote.
How can anyone be upset by it?
Simple fricking logic.

Because he didn't immediately say "I will not vote to impeach Trump and this trial is a sham and should not be happening."
(Even though he voted already that the trial shouldn't be happening.)
What do people honestly think he'll do?
"Well, I didn't think the trial should take place, but more people thought it should, so I guess I'm wrong. Impeach him!"
It's what we have come to see from may Trump supporters... if you don't walk in lockstep with Trump and you don't affirm his every action and move, then you obviously are a Biden loving cuck.

So, in the greater context of the issue at hand (not the piece you decided to isolate) this impeachment is bullshite.
Did Bernie have to stand tall and answer for his words when Scalise was shot?
Did Bernie and Elizabeth get any ounce of actual blame for the Daytona shooting?
Anyone else who can't see the hypocrisy in all this is either a liar or a cocksucker.
You may be both.

Because the bullshite line that this will be a "trial" is just that...bullshite.
Do you think the Ds are going to let Trump call witnesses?
Do you think they are going to let him in the Senate chamber to confront his accussers?
The answer to all that is hell no....the trial will be a sham. It will be the Impeachment team talking followed by some Senators talking over a few days and then a vote.
ETA Cassidy could have done the same research that Rand Paul did and came to the same conclusion that nothing Trump did incited that group of people to do what they did at the Capitol...period. His speech was less hateful than what many democrats like Kamala, Booker, Waters, etc have said in their speeches.

Are you fricking kidding me? The man just got through saying that in his opinion there is no jurisdiction.
In that case, it should not matter what the evidence shows -he should vote to acquit.

Dude, just like in all things you have to assess the context for a stand alone statement.
And the context for this one is an unprecedented, unconstitutional, politically charged and motivated retaliation for ideological reasons.
If we could only have the perfect world in which that statement would be valid...

He should call BS on the whole process and say that he will not vote to impeach, because it is an unconstitutional process. The Chief Justice won’t even participate because DJT is no longer President.

Because the charge is absurd on its face.

Because based on his past actions, it is absolute bullshite. The man has no moral compass as far as I can tell. He seems compromised in some way. To now hide behind a veil of common sense based impartiality is comical. frick him.
