Yes, I never heard of Daronte' Jones, He hasn't been an DC before, coached in the SEC or recruited in Louisiana... But Our Coach thinks he's the Right guy to lead LSU on Defense.
Let's support Coach O , Coach Daronte' Jones and LSU
After doing some research , I like what I found. Coach Jones spent five years in the NFL and previously coached under former LSU DC Dave Aranda at Wisconsin.
He getting a lot of praise from Minnesota for his work with an young secondary, including a pair of rookies in Cameron Dantzler and Jeff Gladney that made great strides during the course of their first years in the league. . . interesting feat, given that the 2020 preseason was remarkably different from what other rookies have experienced.
Daronte' Jones was an assistant high school football coach in Louisiana early in his career at Franklin in 2003 and at Jeanerette in 2004. So he has some history here in Louisiana.
I'm 100% behind The Coaches we have and the Team we're Fielding!!

I agree that he will do a fine job. He is a tireless worker that can relate to his players and motivate them to play hard. The players will love him and go to war for him every game. Give the man a fair chance before you crucify him.

I have a feeling his introductory press conference will win a lot of people over. After that it’s all results.

Most fans will support and give him a chance. But this is a complete 180 from O’s pledge to hire the best coordinators in the country.

At this point all you can do is support the hire. At some point every coach was somewhat unheard of or "unproven". Maybe we find exactly what we are looking for. I know one thing he will have stack team of hungry veteran players so expectations will be high.

I believe that pledge covered the first championship. He said he would hire the best coordinators and win a championship very quickly. He did that. We're in program sustainment mode now which requires adjustments for the long-term. That means defining a true and realistic process to replace personnel. You're not always going to get the hottest names and those are most likely the ones who are angling for more money for their true choice destination like Freeman. LSU will need to continue to hire driven coaches looking to take that next step. IMO, Nielson was the the first swing at doing that. Jones is the second. Freeman was the safe established choice.
