People can have legitimate differences of opinion about political, social, economic, topics all the time. That doesn't make them mentally ill.

For instance, I can say: "Racism isn't very prevalent. And where it exists it doesn't have a big influence on whether a person is successful or happy in their life." And someone else can take the opposite position. And that's all good. That's not what we're talking about.

Psychosis is when someone has been saying over and over; "Joe Biden will never see the inside of the White House. It's impossible." And then when shown video of him sitting in the White House, signing documents, in front of the entire press corps, they say: "That's a fake Joe Biden. That's a fake White House sound stage. Those are all actors."

That's cognitive dissonance. It's a break with reality characteristic of mental illness.

So, to project a question back at you: "Do you believe there is such thing as mental illness? Do you believe that people become psychotic, and unable to tell reality from delusions?"

And, if so, if this is an actual human condition that occurs somewhat frequently in a subset of the population, then answer me this: "Are there people on this forum who are mentally ill?"
