FIFA says anyone playing in “breakaway leagues” won’t be playing in World Cup

It effectively means any player at a club in the European Super League would be banned from international football. They would not be able to represent their country in the World Cup or World Cup qualifiers, while confederations would also ban them from playing in continental tournaments like the European Championship, Copa America, CONCACAF Gold Cup and UEFA Nations League.

Can’t allow the cash farm to produce less crops.

FIFA sucks. Rules like this have no place in international soccer.

They should call FIFA’s bluff here. No way they’d ban the worlds top talent from the WC and lose out on all of the revenue they bring.
FIFA needs them in the WC more than they need to play in the WC. Without the top talent it’s just another Olympic level tournament anyway. Giving even more draw for top players to join the super league.
Don’t get me wrong I love the WC, but if FIFA is really this nearsighted they deserve to sleep in the bed they make.

the Super Cup League could literally just makes its own World Cup if that happened

What is your point? Can you be less cryptic?

the super league is dumb
it will effectively kill off the rest of the clubs that are not part of the elite.
nothing more than a money and power grab the big clubs are doing to protect their status.
its not as simplistic as someone saying you hate capitalism
bc i dont hate capitalism

how so?
The gap in revenue will be way bigger than they are now. The clubs in the super league are essentially a closed system. By the time their spot is up for grabs the gap between those clubs and the ones outside the league will be so big the "others" will never be able to close it.
It essentially kills off any competitiveness left in the big leagues.

There will still be a premier league and people will still watch it, even if it doesn’t have some big clubs in it

At least know what you are talking about if you are going to back the super league
Scaling back essentially kills any chance of being competitive

Without the clubs in a super league, clubs like Wolves Everton and Newcastle would have a chance again

Yeah it would make the all domestic leagues much more competitive. Between that and generally not liking the idea that a governing body is going to shut this down to protect their own interests makes me support it.

Chance at what exactly
Winning an irrelevant league
Congrats on winning a league without your rival in it

IMO playing for at best 7th in a relevant league is worse. Watching Newcastle win the Championship on the final day a few years back was a lot of fun.

I don’t like the super league idea, but I also lol at FIFA lecturing anyone about anything
