Pelicans now have a chance to turn New Orleans into basketball city

Drew Brees’ career ended and flopped, the Saints will be in rebuild misery.
LSU is not doing too good.
If the Pelicans can win a NBA Finals within 5 years(doubt it be this year), New Orleans could turn from football city to basketball city real quick.

Your wording is designed to troll, but you’re not wrong.
If Mrs. Benson is truly committed to the growth of the Pelicans as a franchise, & she has been showing great signs since taking over-Putting the Pels out in front while Zion and Ingram reach their prime parallels with the inevitable decline of the Saints(barring a trade for a franchise QB like Watson)
Believe it or not, it’s a good thing for NOLA Sports. Pels deserve their time in the spotlight.
I’m sure this thread will be a downvote fest, but it’s more pro-Pels than anti-Saints.

Nothing about our leadership is a good thing for NOLA sports. Louisiana will be a football state for a long time and if anything I hope we still have entertaining competitive sports 10 years from now.

Much less parity in the NBA than the NFL. The heat last year was an exception but unless you have 2-3 superstars on your team you don't have a shot. Hopefully Zion and Ingram can be those superstars.

The pelicans are a small part of what makes us a basketball city.
People have to go out and be college and high school fans for that. Tulane and UNO need to get good for their fans to come back, and the high school games need more buzz

New Orleans already is a basketball city, it's just not Pelicans basketball
