Cats.

It fails at literally every thing it set out to do. It completely misses the point of the story from the get go, adds a main character that is so bland and pointless you have no idea why you are following her around, rearranges the music so poorly that it makes almost all the actors sound like shite, b/c of the way it was shot the backing music unable to stay in time for nearly every number so most of the dance numbers are incredibly dull, and the special effects are so god awful that most people forget how poorly the musical parts of of the movie were done.

The movie was so bad I went and watched the stage version that was released in the 90s to figure out why it was so popular and was stunned at how much better the Broadway version was.

I have yet to see Cats, but this film does indeed look truly unbelievably awful and the people making it presented as if it would actually be in consideration for Best Picture. That is the sign of a truly awful film.

Unless you are teaching a class on everything to avoid when doing an adaptation I wouldn't waste my time. It's really shocking that Tom Hooper thought he was going to get a best picture nod and it actually annoys me that the CG was so bad that he was able to fall back on that as an excuse for why it failed.

for me a movie that I was obviously skeptical about but hoped would be good due to loving the anime growing up...only for it to completely crush my soul
