So, honest question here, the Nazis came for the socialists? Weren't they a socialist party? I guess it was the wrong kind of socialist?

Confused.

The message is spot on, though. Fascists segment the society and take control bit by bit.

There was an internal fight between German National Socialists and Moscow controlled International Socialism.

The Night of Long Knives purged the socialist revolutionaries from the party and it morphed into a Hitler cult with support from industrialist and the military, who were not interested in the Nazi party’s socialist beginnings.

The Nazi party were socialists in the same way the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is a democracy. The Nazis were right wing authoritarians who were brought into power by conservatives and business interests who thought they would be a bulwark against socialists and communists.
