Some news sites reported that the mob was chanting "Hang Mike Pence!"
I admittedly have been disconnected from media since all of this happened. Can someone explain why people are angry at Pence?

Vice President doesn't have the power to do that. The process worked as the Constitution designed it to. The objections were heard, debates were discussed, and votes were tabulated. If they should be mad at anyone, it should be the six senators that didn't bring any proof with them.

Each of the 5 or 6 contested states had sent 2 sites of electors... 1 for President Trump and a slate for Joey Biden.
At the very least, Pence should have kicked this back to the states to figure their shlt out.
