If I'm eating fast food I'm doing it on the road while driving rental equipment vans for work. I don't have time to deal with having to clean it later b/c a fast food joint can't figure out how to make a burger that doesn't fall apart into a gooey mess after you bite into it twice.

Don’t eat and drive? Learn to enjoy food for its aesthetic value than pragmatic.

How about you just deal with the fact that your thread didn't earn the support you wanted?

I'd still prefer Whataburger over In n Out if I was sitting at a table. I like how they season the meat better, I prefer the way their bun tastes and holds up, I prefer their ketchup and mustard, and I prefer their fries.

The only thing that makes In n Out mildly interesting is they use "secret sauce" aka thousand island dressing.

They’re fantastic and have a very diverse menu for fast food. Everything from chicken wraps to quesadillas

I’m just a big fan of good cheeseburgers.

Love George Motz’s book on the history of burgers in America and enjoy his show on YouTube.

I had both the Whataburger patty melt and a double double with animal fries in Dallas two years ago. I’d give the edge to In-n-out, but it’s close.

For some reason the one in Dallas wasn’t as good as they normally are if I remember. But that was 4-5 years ago.

The patty melt has obvious microwaved bread.

If you’re in California, go to Hamburger Habit. The Santa Barbara char is the best burger I’d had $ for $. Eight dollar burger with two 1/4 parties, grilled onion, avocado, on sourdough, with cheese. The also have a pepper bar where you can add jalapeños or chilies.

If you’re ever in Western North Carolina, definitely check them out.

Anyone ever suggested that you try a cheese burger in a Mexican restaurant? I don’t know what it is, but some of the best burgers I’ve ever had were made in a Mexican restaurant

I ate at the In-n-out near SMU. The whataburger was off I-35 near Parkland Memorial. That one wasn’t spectacular. I’ve had better whataburger experience in Tuscaloosa

Mexican food gives no fricks about calories. They use lard in half the menu items. Best tortillas you’ll ever have are lard based.

Finish your burgers at home with a small scoop of reserved bacon grease. Best burger you’ll ever have.

I know why. I've asked this question at El Paso after my 3rd awesome burger there. Turns out it makes total sense and you'll kick yourself for not realizing it on your own.

Burgers in Mexican Restaurants are not as popular as they are at steak and even seafood restaurants.
So they slap the occasional burger on the same cook top they use for fajita beef. The burger absorbs the juices and seasoning from fajita meat.
Bartender said alot of people ask that. It's not your imagination.
