Shellshocked GOP ponders future with Trump

quote:I would love to say the anonymous republicans were Mittens Romney but this is how the GOPe have always felt.
Shellshocked Republicans on Thursday said President Trump’s grip on the party is significantly weaker after he incited a mob to attack the Capitol, but some questioned whether their party would be free of his hold anytime soon.
The challenges to Trump are clearly mounting. There is chatter his Cabinet could invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him, an idea favored by at least one GOP lawmaker. Tensions between Trump and his long loyal vice president are clear, and there is evident anger in the Senate GOP with the president.
National Republicans interviewed by The Hill said Trump may have permanently alienated millions of center-right voters who were disgusted by Wednesday’s ugly scene.
But they acknowledged that the president retains enormous political power at the moment, a dynamic that was on full display when a majority of House Republicans voted to throw out Arizona’s Electoral College results hours after their evacuation.
“Trump has less power now, but he could still probably win a primary today, so does he really have less power?” asked former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele.
“The horrors of yesterday showed that Donald Trump built a tomb for the Republican Party and that they would go along and seal themselves in it. So this idea that the party will be different because of yesterday’s activity — I don’t see any evidence for that. Trump still has his base. Where would they go? They’re still there. They don’t take cues from what any Republican in Washington is saying.”

It doesn't stop with this...

After their last major election loss, the Whig Party managed to creep along for another 2-3 years.
The RNC killed itself. It just doesn't know it yet.

They will never be able to fool us again.

Wishful thinking on their part.

Nothing to do with Trump, they are just too damn stupid to realize it....

Do it.
See how that works out for you.
That group of patriots you mischaracterized as a violent mob will look like a kindle of kittens.

So they don’t get it. And they’ve learned both

They should be more worried about their future without him. 74 million voted for him, not for the establishment

They still can’t see past their own cartoonish arrogance.
The only reason I supported Trump to begin with was his taking on “the swamp”. I saw it as at the very least a worthy attempt to clearly expose the Republican Party as the fraud that it was. With initial control of the White House and congress, the GOP showed just how worthless they were. They stood by and even joined in with the biggest farce of an investigation and impeachment that has ever been conducted in our history. They hid when politically viable and stuck knives in when politically viable. Now, when they’re safe to do, the rats are taking off their masks and expect conservative voters to accept vermin as their representation.
They’re done. They might as well change parties. The GOP may still have a little traction with hopeless fools still thinking they’re getting their “lesser evil”, but they’ve lost any purchase on the national level as a whole for years if not forever. I suspect that’s what they want. I hope dearly that it destroys that lie of a party for good.

Republicans, after four years of ignoring their party's wildly popular, effective, and conservative president, after standing by while the Democrats lied and connived and fought him every step of the way, believe they can continue to lie about him and people are going to take the beating and come back to lick their hand and get back in line.
Keep it up. Keep following that pack of globalist scum down the rabbit hole. We will destroy you dirtbags. You don't even see your end coming.
You got Trump because you refused to listen to us and continue on as if we're too stupid to catch on to your lies. Wednesday was your day of reckoning and you are missing it. After this it's war.

Their future will be spending more time at home . They are not going to like the dose of reality they get in 2022. Trump has carried them for 4 years . Now the patriots will not vote or vote against them .

The deep state/politicians are going to try to financially destroy Trump now. They will use the same alphabet orgs to go after him (fbi, cia, irs, SDNY) They've been able to run false investigations on him for 4 years with no repercussions. I expect them to try to destroy his hotel business and wealth so he's not of danger to come at them. They will work AGAIN with foreign countries to attack his assets outside of the country as well. Trump is in for perpetual harrassment.

They've never been behind him and this is their latest tactic to get the unitary back together. Republicans are on the edge of being the most powerless major political party in American history
