Don't know about you, but I'm headin' to the Lake in my F150 with my girl and a few cold bottles of Bud Light. Gonna watch the stars fall and then head to Church with my gal, and finally, gonna get some good home cookin' from mama's house. By the Lake.

Bro country started when Tim McGraw teamed up with nelly

Isbell isn’t popular on Nashville fm but a bro country dude like Morgan wallen can do a subpar rendition of cover me up and it does well.
No, he doesn’t sing it better. It’s all marketing. Bought and paid for.

I agree that "Pop Country" has been around for a long time. Just go back and look at the top country charts in the 70's and 80's it will prove that. The difference today is that you can't get traditional country music on country radio any more like in those days. It's all Pop or Bro country.
I haven't listened to Baton Rouge country stations in years because if I do try and listen its like I'm listening to WFMF!
To answer the question I think Florida/Georgia line was the "Nirvana" of Bro Country.

Garth ushered in the era of shitty Nashville bro country pop.

Not trying to be be a dick, but there’s nothing remarkable about that.

they definitely are the torch bearers. my previous post of nelly and tim mcgraw combining a rap artist and mainstream country artist still holds though as the origin of what we have today. FGL took it over the top taking the rap/country model and injecting party themes into it.
the tailgate out in the field with painted on jeans etc writers had a vehicle to use to get their songs out.

You are a shitty Bro lyricist. No mention of a legitimate country or southern rock artist being played while you do any of the above activities.

The worst fad as of late that has somewhat overtaken bro country is “boyfriend country” which is essential SIMPS saying how they can’t live without their women and they’re the greatest thing ever. But it’s not like the old love song that actually sound country, it’s fricking Taylor swift-esque crap
You know what I’m talking about too. Every singer has one of these songs these days

Hell, you could go all the way back to the sixties and Chet Atkins, who broke the Hillbilly mold and ushered in the Nashville Sound with its full orchestral arrangements.

How would people know you’re actually “country” and didn’t grow up in a wealthy suburb if you don’t name drop some popular artists to give yourself legitimacy?

Is Brad Paisley considered bro country?

Not IMO. While I am not a fan of his, he CAN play an instrument. He can do probably anything on the guitar.

When I think of “bro country” I think of Florida Georgia Line, Big and Rich, and Luke Bryan
