In a box between two nasty swamps. Whole place is underwater. Got my 9 yr old and 6 year old girls.
Trying to get my 9 year old a buck. She’s passed on some young ones this year. They’re in lock down here so hopefully we can catch one in between does. Weird convo to have teaching the rut to girls. Way easier with my son.

Grey light and doe comes out. I tell her to get on the gun. 2 min later mature buck comes out and they trot off. She almost breaks down but I still see them in the thick stuff. Then she trots out with him behind her and he stops giving a quartering too us shot. I tell her to put it on the shoulder and squeeze.
She does and he runs straight at us. He stops and by this time I’ve got the gun and can’t tell If he’s hit. I ask her if she wants me to shoot him again and she says “no bc then Bubba will say you killed it not me”.
About that time I notice he’s wobbly and he stands there for another 20 sec then just lays down.
We’ve had another doe and small 8 come out. My 6 year old is dying to shoot one but we’re waiting for now. She’s already killed a doe and a 5 this year

Damn. I hope my kids aren’t reading this. They will deem their Daddy a failure as a provider. Post some pics of that buck!

Back to work today after a long hiatus of hunting and imbibery. I walk out the door to get in the truck and see the big 9pt we’ve hunted all year standing in the pasture staring at a doe. For the first time in a month I don’t have an arsenal on my backseat at my disposal. When I returned from my mad dash to the gun safe he was gone. Fml

Thanks guys. Been a great year. Really proud of her bc she passed on several young bucks this year and put the time in. I probably won’t shoot anything this year but being with all three of my kids when they shot has been incredible. Best season of my life

That 300blk is very underrated
My kids are 6 for 6 with it. Ninety percent of our shots are 100 yards and in so it’s the perfect round for my place.

What boolits are yall using? I know a few people who have them and hunt with them but haven't shot a deer with theirs yet.
