Played The Wetlands the other day. It was really good. Has anyone played any of the other courses?

Played Wetlands Monday and it was in good shape. The Farm is usually in good shape as well. Vieux is your average city course, expect 5+ hour rounds on weekends. Hebert municipal is below average, for some reason there’s a good bit of people that like it here.

Our group played the Wetlands the other day....I liked the layout and the conditions for this time of year were good!

Public courses:
1) Wetlands
2) The Farm
3) Vieux Chenes
Nothing else is worth playing, and really neither is vieux chenes, but it’s better than Muni
Private courses:
1) Oakbourne
2) Le Triomphe
I’m biased bc I’m a member at #1 but LT is a nice course and it’d be my #1 if I was a member there lol

Wetlands does have a cool layout

The Wetlands is nice. My grandkids will see it at its potential once all the trees grow.
Farm is another solid public option. Condition is always iffy. Last I played it, it was in great shape.
Muni and Vieux Chenes are the cheaper options. LVC is miserable due to the length of the round. Too many forced carries and hackers thinking they don’t need to lay up. Muni will be a faster round. Similar condition to LVC.
Oakbourne is the private course in Lafayette.
Le Triumph is private course in what is basically New Iberia.
Came Row is a semi-private course in New Iberia.
Bayou Bend is in Crowley and home to the worlds best golf course cheeseburger and the original daily “Dogfight”

Conditions are always great at Oakbourne. LT is more fun layout imo but conditions are worse.
played both at least 100 times

Agree Oakbourne>LT. Always "primo"
I'm in minority probably but I definitely prefer Muni over LVC.
Crowley is always in decent shape, staff is friendly and tou can go pretty low if playing decent. Not necessarily easy but scoring opportunities and fun.
And the cheeseburger!

I would disagree here. Been a member at both at different times for a number of years. LT layout is better, LT practice facility is way better, Oakbourne has historically had better conditions, but that wasn't true this fall. LT's greens have been very good since the redo (before that they were shite and OCC was way better).
I've played both 100s of times. I'll also take issue with oakbournes set up sometimes. There is no reason you should hit an uphill putt that gets to the hole and then backs up a couple a feet and I've seen it happen a number of times at OCC.
Also, LT just fired the superintendent who did an incredible job with the place (when it surpassed OCC imho) so we will see what happens now. LT had fallen into bad condition under frantzen a number of years ago, so hopefully that doesn't happen again.
IMO, which course is superior changes over time. OCC typically has better conditions over the past 10 years, I'd agree.
ETA: I'd add in winter and spring when grass is dormant LT has a harder time maintaining grass coverage and OCC is better, in fall and summer when both are lush I think layout gives LT advantage

Why did the LT super get let go?
Posted on 12/31/20 at 11:36 am to barbapapa
Because the GM does whatever she wants no matter how little sense it makes

I think dude was early 20s when he got that job. I worked with him in Houston. Typical Aggie.

This is very well put and pretty much my thoughts exactly. Only point I could dispute is that Oakbourne's practice facilities are equally as good as LT's IMO, although we have had a lot of trouble keeping the range grass in good shape the last few years, that range just gets beat to shite. They've tried a lot of different things to get it back up to standard but it's tough.
Agree with you on pin placements and setup at OCC. They make it way to hard sometimes for the average golfer. I understand there are very good players at the club but most of the guys are looking for a fun and fair course, not a fricking tournament setup on a run of the mill Sunday morning.

Ive heard this repeated about 8 other issues. How is this person still in charge there?
