Member at LT and like it.
I joined because I got tired of 5+ hour rounds at vieux Chenes and I enjoy practicing at the range and chipping greens.

I would possibly prefer Oakbourne as a course. But I like the friendliness of LT for friends and guests who are amateurs, and the practice facilities at LT are much better.
As well I think membership is cheaper.

And LT isn’t in new Iberia

LT did a good job with the new greens. I played it during the last reciprocal (I think in July) and they were already better than the shite greens they had before.

I prefer playing LT because it's much easier than OCC, but OCC usually is in better condition, and is a nicer course. However, I'm 35 now and once I hit 40 my member fee at OCC is going to nearly double. I've heard that LT does not have the same increase with age, so I may be switching soon. Both courses are pretty much the same distance from my house (near Comeaux High school).

Good deal! What about the application process? How important are references? I’ve been interested in joining OCC while now. Looking for some inside info...

Pretty sure you have to be invited/sponsored. I was going to join then my wife told me we needed a pool. I will probably join next year.

I've been a member at OCC since 2010. You just need to have 2 current members serve as your sponsors. You don't necessarily have to be best friends with them, just find two members that you or someone else knows that will put their name down as a sponsor. It doesn't really mean all that much tbh. I couldn't tell you who my original "sponsors" were.

The also have a "Masters Membership Program" running right now where if someone refers you and you end up joining, you both get discounts on your member fees for 2 years.

If you want you can post your email address and I'll email you a membership packet.

I'd wait until it's not raining every damn day. Range is hardly ever open right now and course is always cart path only. I walk when it's wet anyway but when it's also this hot it's damn exhausting. Greens are in great shape of course but it's a swamp from tee to green.

Of course, it's probably like that everywhere around here right now.

Greens at LT weren’t good a month ago, but they’re better now. Maybe the only good thing about the rain and heat.
