although we have had a lot of trouble keeping the range grass in good shape the last few years, that range just gets beat to shite. They've tried a lot of different things to get it back up to standard but it's tough

I agree with you, LTs can get beat to shite at times, esoecially this time of the year. I was mainly thinking about the practice chipping greens and hitting into the net. I despise OCC’s chipping area

Has anyone played Eagle Ridge lately? Is it a good walking course?

Member at LT and like it.
I joined because I got tired of 5+ hour rounds at vieux Chenes and I enjoy practicing at the range and chipping greens.

I would possibly prefer Oakbourne as a course. But I like the friendliness of LT for friends and guests who are amateurs, and the practice facilities at LT are much better.
As well I think membership is cheaper.

And LT isn’t in new Iberia

Never said it was. It was an option for him if he didnt want to play VC and LT is literally 3 miles from the New Iberia line. fwiw

Eagle Ridge did look a bit better the last time I played. Not to move.off topic but last time I played Abbeville the greens were in great shape

What would your top 5 in the state be? Just curious, I’d prolly have squire and CCL then I think the next 3 could go a number of ways depending on personal preference

I actually did. It’s in Iberia Parish. I knew that comment would hook someone.

I walked Eagle Ridge today. I didn’t think it was bad, I walked just over 5 miles. The greens were fast.

Rough. Greens are super slow. Yes there are still games Saturday and Sunday.

Also, LT just fired the superintendent who did an incredible job with the place (when it surpassed OCC imho) so we will see what happens now. LT had fallen into bad condition under frantzen a number of years ago, so hopefully that doesn't happen again.

That's disappointing to hear given I remember when he was hired. He was brought in from Florida to fix a number of problems. I remember meeting him on #9 green when I was a member.

Frantzen was the young guy who quit to play pro golf or attempted to?

Yes, every time I was there he was either hitting balls or bullshitting with Joy in his workshop. I think he moved to head pro for a short period of time.

He did a really good job and fixed a number of problems left from frantzen (dry hard pan fairways, shitty greens). No logical reason that he was fired other than cutting costs and finding a cheaper replacement.

Won’t argue that, but it’s what we have in Lafayette. Take what you can get!

Yeah and to be fair they completely redid the irrigation system a 1.5 years ago. That obviously helped as well
