we only win 8 games this year. Actually regardless of what Guilbeau says I think the qb play, almost regardless of how everyone else performs is huge. Our guys are either very inexperienced or very average or both. It only takes one or two bad plays by the qb to turn a game in the wrong direction.

Maybe, but what if Jarrett Lee ends up playing like Tommy Hodson did when Hodson was a RS Frosh?

That could happen (not saying it will; I don't know). Besides, Lee is surrounded by much more talent than Hodson ever had.

Yeah, Guilbeau has never underestimated our team.

BTW, Flynn was considered to be a possible liability last year and lowered our pre-season ranking. We were a couple of plays/penalties from being undefeated last year.

glenny always hopes for the worst. maybe he will write an article about what could happen if our qb's play above what is expected of them.

IMO, the defense is the key to the season. I don't think we will get terrible QB play, but I can't imagine the offense being consistently effective as it was last year, particularly against good defenses. For the most part, the offense carried the team last year; the defense needs to be consistently better.

While the former might be true at some positions, what makes you think that any of our players our average. We are stacked at D-line and RB, have proven 1st team players at O-line and WR, and have experience at LB. The defensive backfield and the QB position are the only positions with real inexperience.

This is catastrophy syndrome that ole Saban spoke of.

(1) If Zinger catches that ball for a TD against Kentucky.
(2) If Doucet had lined up correctly on Flynn's pass to Hester against Arkansas.

If we go 8-4, something is very much awry.

As I've been saying, in order to go 8-4, we would either have to lose an OOC game to a cupcake or go 4-4 in the SEC. Neither of those things is acceptable, as far as I am concerned.

Yes. Good points. I do hope that either Lee or Hatch or Jefferson can pull a Hodson. I don't think you can compare any of those guys to Flynn though. He did at least have one complete game as a starter in the Peach bowl and he played a good bit more than Hatch did in his 3 previous seasons.

Matt Flynn was a liability at times last year. You were a couple of plays away from losing 4 games last year. Just to give you the anti-LSU spin to go with your pro-LSU spin.

I was only referring to the 3 qb's. Obviously Lee and Jefferson or very inexperienced and Hatch may be average as well as inexperienced (just not as much as the other two).

Just as the gumps were a couple of plays away from beating ULM. And a couple away from only winning 4 games instead of 6.

The same could be said for Alabama. You were actually a play here and there along with some favorable officiating from actually not even making a bowl game.

But quite possible. We could lose to Florida, UGA and Auburn easily and that would leave only one other team to upset us. Who in their right mind would totally dismiss the possibility of an upset from just one of the following: Miss St, S. Car, Arky, Ole Miss or Alabama?

Its sad, but true. No need to worry though gumps, your savior will pull you out of the hole you're in.
