If D. Byrd had dropped the pass in the end zone in the Auburn game, we most likely would have lost.

Yeah, because the school-record-holding Colt David, who was 26 of 33 on the year, surely could not have kicked a 40-yard field goal on the next play. Most likely a 78% FG kicker with range out to the high 40s would miss a 40-yarder, right?

If Chad Jone's hadn't sacked JPW and caused a fumble, we probably would have lost.

Right, because there is no possible way we would have beaten them in overtime. I mean, for crying out loud, when was the last time we won in overtime in Tuscaloosa? All the way back in 2005? Impossible to win that one without the fumble. And, of course, the sack and forced fumble wasn't a great play by a great player that we recruited and coached, it was just a lucky break that randomly occurred out of the blue. Thank goodness.

If Hester would have come up short on 1 of those 4th down calls against Florida. We would have lost.

So, our line blocked well enough and our back ran well enough to gain 1 fricking yard on three different plays, and that's LUCKY? You and Geert need to go into business together and open a bar selling drinks in half-empty glasses.

Some of these rah rah people can't see that we're just as close to being an average mediocre team as we are to being the most domintant team in college football---by a substanial margin.
A few plays separate us from perinial BCS players to annual residents of Shreveport.
Miles has made some good decisions & gone into many games having the team unprepared.
Now had USC or any other school had as many narrow escapes as we have had the past few seasons, they'd view them as the luckiest team to ever take the field.

You surpass even yourself in stupidity, Geert.

FACT: The SEC is a competitive conference. There will almost ALWAYS be close games EVERY season for almost EVERY team in that conference. Almost every team will win some of those and lose some. For almost any team that plays in the SEC, if you count every close win as "lucky" and every close game as a loss, they would have a mediocre record. To say that LSU is lucky just because we have won some close games is idiotic, but sadly typical of the mentality of the LSU-bashing contingent of so called LSU fans. Winning more close games than you lose is a sign of GOOD COACHING AND GOOD PLAYING.

You didn't watch the game. The clock kept running for a few seconds long after he caught it. Had he dropped it and they let the clock run out, replay would have fixed it. This proves you are just looking for reasons to bitch, so it'll be my last response.

...Guilbeau's methodology/technique is simple: to identify all possible "worst case scenarios" - true, false, perceived, or rumored - in every aspect of LSU athletics, particularly, but not limited to, the major team sports, and proceed to emphasize and nuance them ( the worst case scenarios..) into so-called "objective" reporting stories .
...Its a "style" , its "negative". And more often than not, its BS. Lots of "sports writers" use it.
Personally - I don't like it at all. I dismiss SG as basically a negative hack.
