Is Pittsburgh the 1993 Saints?

It took 11 games for defenses to figure out how to play against the Pitt offense, but it looks similar.
Ben was getting the ball out in 2.2 seconds or less this year. Teams are playing all of their WRs tight and putting a safety over the top of Claypool.
Ben has no where to go with the ball and his getting hit a good bit now. He isn’t the same QB where he can extend plays with dudes bouncing off of him.

Haven’t they had a bunch of injuries on both sides the ball? I felt they were one of the weaker 11-0 teams I could remember

On offense, Conner is been out a couple of times, but all of their WRs were healthy.
Ebron was hurt last night in the 2nd quarter.

This is a joke of a comparison. The Steelers will still get to the AFC Championship.

Indianapolis will beat them this week and they will be playing for the division at Cleveland in W17.

Only if Wade Wilson is playing QB for them.

I like how you assume people know anything about a random Saints team from 27 years ago

Steelers are a terrible matchup for the Colts but ok

I don't see how this Steelers team is anything like the 8-8 '93 Saints.
That Saints team had Wade Wilson as QB, who has never performed anything like Rothlisberger. Derrick Brown was the most productive RB, 54 Rushing yards/game. Their best wide receivers were an aging Eric Martin (only played one more season after that) and Quinn Early.
Yes, NOLA had the defense. Four stud LBs, including the two on the outside who made the Pro Bowl (being selected for that game meant something back then). The defense forced a total of only 10 INTs that season, though, which was quite low by the standards of those days when DBs could actually play defense.
So no. This Steelers team looks nothing like the 1993 Saints.

I comparing the offensive ineffectiveness.
The Saints were very limited at WR in 1993 and didn't have a deep WR threat so teams would matchup with the WRs and play them tight which limited the effectiveness of the short passing game offense.
Since Ben was getting the ball out in 2.2 seconds, teams started playing close coverage at the LOS and keeping a safety over the top on Claypool.
Ben doesn't have anywhere to go with the football now in that 2.2 sec window and he has to hold onto the ball. The rush is now getting to him and he's taking more hits.

Yeah they're a lot more like 2016 North Melbourne.

Brad Muster lead the team in rushing Touchdowns

Feel like they are more akin to one of the teams a year or two before that during the peak Mora years. If I remember correctly 93/94 was when we started to go downhill.

No, the 2020 Saints are the ‘91 Saints. That team started 9-1 and had a four-game division lead. Needed to beat the 5-5 Falcons to clinch the division with five weeks still remaining. Lost that game, lost the next three and the Falcons won the next three to put both teams at 9-5. Saints rebounded to win in Week 16 to clinch a wild-card berth and then won the division in Week 17 with a win and a Falcons a loss in Dallas.
This Saints team was 10-2 with a three-game lead over the 7-5 Bucs and need one win to clinch the division. But they’ve lost two in a row and the lead is down to a game. They can clinch by beating the Vikings but if they lose it’s probably going to Week 17 because the Bucs play the Lions this week.

Yeah, the Saints started 5-0 in ‘93 before the first bye week (each team had two bye weeks in ‘93). Then got destroyed in Pittsburgh and the wheels started to come off. Sat at 7-4 and then lost four in a row to be eliminated from playoff contention. Beat the Bengals in a meaningless Week 18 game in a half-full Superdome (I was there) to finish 8-8.
Defense started struggling against the run in late ‘92 (couldn’t stop Thurman Thomas in a late-season loss in the Dome that year) and I remember rookie Jerome Bettis running all over them in a Rams upset win in the Dome in ‘93. Falcons also beat the Saints in the Dome that year and they had a losing record, too. The Saints from ‘87-92 didn’t lose to losing teams at home so that was a sign that team was done.
