Future still looks promising if and only if

While I agree with everyone here that this season has been a huge disappointment and shall never be acceptable at a program like LSU. Everything from coaching, opt outs, transfers, Sexual assault allegations, it has just been a disaster. However Saturday really showed the potential of this past recruiting class and it looks like it may have the potential to be one of Orgerons best. For a bunch of young 18-19 year olds to fight the way they did and never give up on this season shows me that they want to be at LSU and win championships. Not to mention if O can close out this recruiting class this year I can definitely see potential for another championship run. There are certain things that I believe need to change in order for this to happen.
1. Pelini needs to go/ improve hiring of assistants
Defense is still historically awful and giving up 600 yards a game. Players from last year have regressed. We need to find a young coordinator that knows more about defending the modernized spread. Also it’s going to take O not hiring a friend!
2. Culture change
This year has drastically showed the problems that LSU has been facing for years with opt outs, and people leaving early for the draft. I don’t know if there’s a certain way to change this completely but the results on the field this year and everything that has happen can be a culture change for these young freshman and sophomore. Having upperclassman quit on you and basically not caring about the team I believe can have an affect on our young players in a good way. They haven’t had that success and you can just tell with the effort on the field that they really want it. Not saying that’s a 100% a fix but I believe it will help.
3. Recruiting better offensive lineman
While they had there best game of the year this past Saturday, there is still tons of room for improvement to be championship caliber. Need to recruit elite oline man and sign them. Immediate impact guys that aren’t 2-3 year projects until they see the field. Next thing is our best players need to see the field and tommy moffit needs to get kardell Thomas and Bradford to lose weight. Unacceptable for our coaches to allow players to just be lazy and prevent improvement. When Bradford has played you can just see the guy is a mauler with massive potential.Just those two can improve the interior. While Shanahan has struggled this year, I have seen improvement from him as each game goes by. We need to improve at tackle, while rosenthal looks physically like he can be an all sec tackle, sometimes it looks like he lacks effort. Hopefully another year can improve that. If we don’t hit on leigh, we need to sign some immediate impact guys to give help now!! Whether it’s from juco or the
portal, it needs to happen.
With everything being said and everything that has gone on this year I believe there’s still hope in the future if we can fix a few things!

I cant disagree with any point and i dont think most would
I also think shanahan improved throughout the season and is smart
We are probably stuck with him anyway. Im pretty sure they figured he would be here for 2 years
Crazy thing is cregg actually thought charles turner could be a center

We’re still recruiting at an elite level. Expect 2-3 big commits today. We will close with a top 5 class for sure

I agree with point 1 and 2. Not sure if it's the coach or players fault about OL, but if a better candidate becomes available I won't cry if he gets the boot.

Not disagreeing, the recruiting has been elite. Oline recruiting hasn’t been however!

LSU is recruiting at an Elite level with skill positions.
LSU is not recruiting at an Elite level on the OL. There needs to be changes in OL recruiting strategy. They are either missing in evaluation or in development...I believe both. But go back to 2000 and look at the OL recruiting classes from 2000-2009. Pay attention to the amount of recruits and caliber of OL recruits.

Not even 8am yet and Saban already flipped a commit from O.

While recruiting at an elite level is vital, Meeting Needs in the recruiting class is of equal importance. Doesn't do any good to have a top ranked class and whiff on obvious holes like the Oline.

Hold your horses on the top 5 finish there buster

I think they may be missing in both, evaluation and development. They also need to stop taking chances on projects ( maybe some of this happens because the elite guys go elsewhere and in that case I understand them doing it ), The oline has to be a priority, let’s face it, Joe Burrow and Joe Brady helped that oline tremendously last year and is a big reason they won that award. Being able to get the ball out, either on time or because of diagnosis, helps an oline and makes their job easier. If you don’t do those things well, you better have a great oline.

I agree I just don't have faith that O can do it. If he didn't see the issue of zone D against Moo state or that Stingley should cover D. Smith, he will never get it all right. Not enough awareness to sustain a program at the elite level.

Our O line coach did not become stupid in one year... you guys have lost your minds.
Agree on young DC not pretending to know who that is... Raymond and Bush will quit. If we do that

come on, joe burrow had a lot to do with that oline looking good.

He helped I am not denying that but two of those guys were week one NFL starters. One was a 3 star recruit that was developed into a great center. Sahdiq Charles’s off the field problems prevented him from being a top 2 round pick.

Another reason I believe the offensive line looked much improved was max being able to read the defense and get the ball out quick. Even tho it was mostly designed, his decision making is much quicker than what we”ve seen from Finley. Just by having that ability relieves so much pressure off the oline

Yep I think all three apply especially the need for O linemen each and every year. Game starts and is finished up front both sides of the ball. If we don't fix O line we will not be in the top of college football.

So what’s your title? Expert... coaching guru...
Or are you just a know it all and have all the answers. Pelini isn’t going anywhere ... not this year anyway. Get over it
