It has to be stored and shipped at -73C.

Apparently, the Moderna vaccine can be stored at regular refrigerator temperatures.

The aliens from whom the DNA is derived live on an icy planet.

I remember back in March we were told that the virus would die off in the summer because it couldn't survive high temperatures and would come back in the fall/winter when temps dropped again. Vaccines contain live strains of whatever virus it's meant to protect again so I'd guess the virus has to remain alive in order for the vaccine to be effective.
That's my purely non-scientific amateur opinion.

Vaccines made from mRNA can be made much faster than older vaccines could, explains Margaret Liu, a vaccine researcher who chairs the board of the International Society for Vaccines and specializes in genetic vaccines. The problem, says Liu, is that mRNA is "really easily destroyed, and that's because there are many, many enzymes that will just break it apart."
Here's an analogy: Think of the vaccine as a chocolate bar that melts easily. Just as there are ways to keep the chocolate from melting into goo, there are things the drugmakers did to protect their COVID-19 vaccines.

I’ve read that it’s just really unstable and will degrade easily and become ineffective

I thought this wasn’t that type of vaccine

So the polar bear seamon it’s made from doesn’t melt

Well now they're reporting a new strain of covid-19, so don't rush out and get the vaccine just yet.

It's just an analogy. Simmah down.

To preserve it - mRNA technology was just approved for this usage - the vaccine loses efficacy as it ages
I’m guessing the cold keeps the vaccine ‘viable’ - although it is not a live, inactivated, or dead virus
It’s something scientists and doctors have been working on for 30 years

Because you touch yourself at night.

The cold temperature keeps the nano-bots inactive so they remain undetected. They activate once they get warmed up by your body's internal temperature

The nucleotide structure of the vaccine is incredible unstable. Incredibly cold conditions are required to keep it stable and not morphing into other structures.
