Yeah, West Virginia and Missouri are clearly better than LSU
And if you're taking schedule into consideration for their high ranking you should drop your team.

I agree with your interpretation of the subtlety of the angle of analysis. Positive vs negative approaches depending on the team.

The only rankings that matter are the ones at the end of the season. I'm glad we aren't ranked higher at the moment, because we all remember how well we played last season when we were ranked #1...

Umm; if you had any credibility to begin with, you just lost it. Do you actually follow college football?

at this point rankings are almost meaningless. As long as a team is ranked in the top 15-20, all they have to do is take care of business and they will have a shot at a title.

Um, I bet Auburn don't believe this.

Those other defending Champions didn't lose their starting QB and replace him with a transfer from Harvard.

If RP wouldn't have been a head case and stayed, LSU would have been ranked within the top 3.

Aubarn 04, pre-season # 17- didn't work out too well for them did it?

Its not going to ever change because all of these different coaches, ESPN and the losers that do the polls #1 thinks that USC is the cream of the crop, #2 Ohio State is always in the top three. No matter our past year accomplishments they do not care. We never get any love from ESPN the only thing that they harp on is the Big 10 which really have no tough schedules.

Does it really matter. If just need to win the SECCG and thinks will take care of them selves. If we hae the same # of losses as everyone else we will play for the NC. I think one of the reasons we are ranked so low is our OCC schedule

Um, we started off at 2 last year. That's not enough love for you?

IMO, there is only one reason why we are ranked where we are ... Ryan Perrilloux. Our backup QB from last year and this year's starter was kicked off the team. If this would not have happened, we would be ranked higher. Also, if RP was not on the team last year and Hatch/Lee was the backup and the presumed starter this year, we would be ranked higher.

Voters see a team kicking off the starting QB after spring ball and assumes turmoil heading into the season. That is why we are a couple of positions lower.

Missouri? fricking Missouri? I'll be damned if they're going to rank my team behind that moron Pinkel and Chase Daniel, he of the fat fricking head.

They could have started the year off at #3 and it still wouldn't have mattered. As to the original question you posed, I'm quite sure we are the 1st defending national champion to have lost 2 games in their NC year as well. But comparing rankings to other years is meaningless if not downright fricking stupid. It's only relative to the teams of this season. This year, the AP voters think there are 6 teams better than LSU to start the season. Every year is separate.

I don't pay attention to the AP poll since it no longer has anything to do with crowning the national champions.

In the poll that matters, we are ahead of Missouri.

Well, they did, so what the frick are you gonna do about it? Send in some nasty emails to the AP voters? Quit buying their newspapers? I'm sure your protest will be felt nation-wide.

Those guys only know that we lost Flynn, Dorsey, Hester,Doucet, Highsmith, Steltz and both corners. Those are the players who got the notoriety last year. Media guys don't realize that we have recruited well and that Francois, Alexander, Nevis, and Woods are ready, along with some great DEs. They just haven't made the headlines on a consistent basis. In addition, unless you followed LSU you probably don't understand the progress made by Byrd and LaFell at receiver and Jones at about any position on the defense.

Maybe that is why Kiper is one of the few prediciting another great season for Tigers. When he did his homework for his draft analysis he figured out there are still some outstanding players in BR.

No way Missouri is better than LSU. They don't play defense.

They played some D against Arkansas in the Cotton if I recall. How many points did the Razorbacks put up on ya'll in your OWN stadium again?

You've lost your damn mind. Just because they can beat UGA doesn't mean than can beat LSU.

Wow, a game 3 years ago and we lost by 3. Good one.

it's called sarcasm, we know that for UGA fans that word is too big to understand

Riiiiight, since LSU ranks in the bottom portion of the 119 schools in D-IA football academically

Matt Stafford just got off the shitter, shouldn't you be there to wipe his arse for him?

He's saving it for you after he humiliates your team in TS. He's going to give you a nice brown nose

Umm; if you had any credibility to begin with, you just lost it. Do you actually follow college football?

More so than you

at this point rankings are almost meaningless. As long as a team is ranked in the top 15-20, all they have to do is take care of business and they will have a shot at a title.

Tell that to the '04 Auburn team

Moe, I agree with your post, finally an LSU fan with half a brain on here, but you're wrong about ESPN's coverage of your Tigers. They clearly love you guys, have ever since Saban. And that might just because you hire Big 10 coaches, so you could be partly right
