Saturday's Scrimmage Report

Just got back. I know we aren't really supposed to give any information so i wont really give any details i dont think will be covered by the media.
Few pointers:
-Hatch got hurt. Shouldn't be big, but he didn't play at the end
-Lee got most of the first team reps (they were split before the injury). He threw incredibly well and ran a pretty good offense. Threw aton of passes and was pinpoint in his accuracy. Made some mental errors towards the end, but he really showed me alot this game as opposed to his lackluster spring game. I will be shocked if he isn't starting by game 2/3. there was a stretch today where he completed almost 12 or so in a row all over the field.
-JJ looked like a freshman, but he's every bit as athletic as any running QB we've had. He may emerge as this seasons running QB over Hatch if he contines to show such good running. Unfortunately for JJ, he pretty much threw an INT ever time he threw. His passing is far from ready, but he's got all the tools. Bad mechanics need to be fixed.
-Defense was pretty solid. lotta of mixing and matching on both sides so you rarely got to see the true first teams. Beckwith didn't play.
-PP was running with 1st and 2nd teams. No surprises here, except Taylor in really in the PT mix.
-RB's did well, but there was a non tackling scrimmage, so its hard to tell. CS, RM, and KW all carried equally. CS started, persay.
-Dalfrey looks to be the best punter. I was surprised they did okay.
-Dickson is going to be a huge part of the offense.
-Don't be surprised to see Dixon, the Mitchells, and RJ to play alot. Dixon looks pretty good. DeAngelo is the only FRESH that may not RS, but he most likely will.
-Lafell, Byrd, and TT are as good of a top 3 as there is. Byrd looks so much bigger and stronger. TT started slow but really did pretty well later on. All are great deep threats.
-Trindon got a lot of carries.
-Ridely got just as many as the other 3
To Admin: If i gave away too much info, let me know and i'll delete stuff. I think the fans deserve some vague details
EDIT: I am NOT a gridiron member. If anyone gets mad about this, don't go to them.

how was the chad jones/coleman/mccray pt split?

You didn't give up the location of the rebel base so we are ok.
The scrimmage was far to remote to serve as a display of the battle stations full power.

I hope Hatch's injury is nothing serious. We will be in trouble if JJ is #2 going into the season due to the fact that it sounds like he is far from ready to play. It would do him good to redshirt this year and get his mechanics down.

thanks so much, I've been wondering how RJ is coming along.

JJ really is so athletic. People really underestimate his speed.
He may not be as good of a running QB as RP was yet, but he is certainly quicker.
That said, he pretty much threw an interception every time he threw the ball. Mechanics and progressions need alot of work, thus far. But, like i said, he could def be our running QB.

Well hopefully everyone realizes now that JJ isn't ready to be the starter but might come in as a change of pace.

It would be a predictable substitution if he can't learn to pass reasonably well.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
He's never going to see the field if he doesn't learn to hold onto the ball.

Thanks for the report. Glad to hear that Lee threw some nice passes and I hope that Hatch was just taken out as a precaution.

Big J,
Are you looking forward to the Thursday night game between Baylor and Wake Forest. It should be interesting to see what Briles brings to the table.
