I want to change the two water heaters in house, one is starting to have some issues and both are over 15 years old.

Where is the best place to get them? When I lived in Florida there was a plumbing wholesale company that would also sell to the public that had the best prices. I currently reside in the Northshore.

Home Depot has nice ones.

That's where my plumber sends me, or to the supply house.

My best guess would be either Home Depot or Lowes. They almost always seem to have comparable pricing on items and I've bought many appliances over the years and their everyday prices are hard to beat unless you find a distributor running a big sale------and I usually don't need anything when they do.

Double check labor charges. I was unfortunately out of town and had to have a water heater swapped and got raked over the coals by home depot contractor

I don't plan on going through HD for the install.

Had them before and they are great but I do not think I will be in the house forever. I do not want to outlay the costs if I am not staying here.

Just one word of advice, if these water heaters are in the attic just make sure the diameter of the new heaters are such that they will fit through the attic door. Many water heaters are larger in diameter than those made in years past - more insulation, etc.

They are. I expanded my attic stairs by putting in a wide version a couple of years ago.

LCR has stores all over. We bought all of our plumbing supply there. That’s typically where the better plumbers send new construction clients. Really good customer service and lots of price options.

Was not familiar with them but worked a football playoff game last night with a guy who works at one. He said he could get me good pricing, we shall see.

smart move.

Only other thing I might suggest is a tank water heater with brass/metal drain valve as opposed to plastic drain valve found on the cheaper units. But you can swap a plastic drain valve with a metal valve after the purchase if you want.

Last time I installed a water heater, I switched it for one similar to below. Plan on doing it.

Football Official? Make sure your plumber's kid didn't play for anyone in a game you officiated. LOL
