We have guys in the secondary that should not be playing at LSU. Stingley is the only legit guy that we have back there. I also like Ricks, and I cannot understand why he does not start. The rest of those guys should not be at LSU.

Ward has looked good since he's gotten healthier post surgery.

But did you forget about Flott?

Stingley, Flott, Ward, and Hampton are sophomores. Ricks is a freshman.

It’s easy to forget that because Stingley and Ricks both came in and started immediately. But those are 5-star guys - Stingley was the #3 overall player in the country and Ricks was #14. Doesn’t mean the other guys have no business playing for LSU, just that they need to develop.

Our CB group should be REALLY good next year, as long as Stingley doesn’t leave like Chase. Safety could be rough, though. If Stevens and Harris leave, we will likely need Hampton or Toles to step up big time, and Sage Ryan to contribute immediately.

As for Flott - he’s been playing a lot better the last couple of weeks. He got burned by Smith, but that was raw speed more than anything. Smith is elite, and there’s only one guy on our defense right now than can run with him one-on-one. Inexplicable why Flott was ever in single coverage vs. Smith.
