How many players can you name that should have left (quit) early but didn’t and, therefore, made a bad business decision? Seems like it should be easy to come up with a bunch of names since so many call it a clear cut “business decision”. This is the argument, right? That continuing to play jeopardizes your future?

Marcus Lattimore should have left SC when? After his Sophomore season? During his Junior season?

I do not blame Terrace for sitting down. He is a late 1st or early 2nd pick. The Bama and Florida game will likely not be competitive and there is a good chance we get embarrassed by both as they will be looking to run up the score due to playoff competition.

Both were postponed and not being played on time. We have no shot at the post season and not really even a bowl of any consequence. He has nothing to gain and everything to lose. Not to mention the fact that our QB’s cannot even get him the ball.

He saw what happened to Waddle, Burrow, the safety from last year among others. Injuries can happen quickly and be devastating. If that was my son, at this point in the season In a Covid year, where everything is already upside down, I would say the risks outweigh the benefits and tell him to shut it down.

Under the current model perhaps he should have quit mid-season after he had established how good he was and not risk injury.

College Football is becoming more and more cooperate. Coaches are making 10 million a year, conferences are getting billion dollar TV deals, and we are outraged over guys with 1st or 2nd round grades opting out?

Get real

This isn’t the same sport as it was in 2005. 2005 was 15 years ago and it feels like it is 30 in regard to how different the sport is today.

To an extent... I'm in that same boat as the days roll by. But I'd prefer 100% honesty and I think it was delayed till after a1m because the TEAM felt they had a legit chance to win. This would have been great read "At this point, I've decided to opt out for the remainder of the season, focus on the draft and let them young receivers benefit from all the reps and experience."

Peace!

A player that does this should have to reimburse the school for the cost of their scholarship, full cost of attendance.
quitting the team is basically a breach of contract and should be treated as such.

Got it. So once you establish yourself as first round talent, shut it down. Cool.

So if a high school Junior signs a letter of intent to play at a D1 school, should they sit out their Senior year?

It’s interesting you had to use “current situation” since the most recent (and only) example is from 8 years ago.

LE, these clowns just don’t get it

They aren’t going to risk millions of dollars for a food stipend and Nike merchandise

Yep, until they get properly compensated, they can use the university in the same way the university uses them. That is the crux of it. There doesn't have to be hard feelings on either side.

The qbs were able to get him the ball.. Saturday he had 10 catches for over 130 yards.... bottom line he cost himself a lot of money and QUIT on the same teammates he just had a pep talk to about finishing strong.... he is a quitter.

Well there is a prime time game against Bama where he could have even improved his stock.

That doesn't matter. His draft stock floor is already locked in. He can only improve on that by having a good combine
