Basically saying that when a talented team is struggling it’s one of three things

1) lack of trust
2) disfunctional work environment
3) selfishness

1) losing the most players to the nfl in an offseason in the history of history

2) replacing both coordinators, as well as players mentioned above, in a shortened, unprecedented pandemic season.

3)lack of a talented, mobile QB

He can talk about all of this in his Leadership course at Ohio State where he discusses faking health issues when trouble brews.

Lester. I agree. 1 and 2 need to be accepted by the masses. Disagree with 3.

Brennan was balling before he got hurt man. The offense has nothing to do with why we suck so much IMO

None of those are reasons for being this damn bad.

You’re crazy if you can’t see a lack of trust on this team. The players aren’t trusting each other to their jobs and the players aren’t trusting the coaches to put them in a position to do their jobs, especially on defense.

I’m not denying there are other issues.

But the defection of players & coaches, with a shortened offseason, is issue number 1. It compounds every single other issue with the program

Re: Trust is earned by playing & coaching together. There are a ton of moving parts working against that. I’m not sure it’s the huge internal issue you think it is.

You are capped offensively if your QB isn’t a running threat.

Urban Meyer, the greatest offense mind in CFB history, proves that.

If your guy can’t move you’re playing behind the 8 ball

Well said thank you!
Urban has never had a team like 2019 LSU

Lack of discipline (assignment/Gap discipline on D), blocking scheme and offensive play calling doesn't appear to be in the same page either

This is so overstated at this point. No reasonable person expected LSU to come back this year and rival the greatness of last season. But you can't come out like they have the first half of this season, with the talent they have gained through recruiting and play like this.

If we are recruiting as well as everyone thinks we are, we don't lose to Moo State and Mizzou like we did. Losing players isn't an excuse for those losses. Especially considering the offense played more than well enough to win (outside of the Auburn game)

The "We lost too much to the NFL" is a cop out for fans who don't want to acknowledge there is a problem internally with this team.

Myles Brennan played more than well enough to win the games he was in. If we have even an average defense, this team is very likely 4-1.

Lester, 1 and 2 are perfectly legitimate reasons for taking a step back and losing a few games. No argument with that. But when you go from undefeated to struggling to avoid your first losing season in 21 years, you can’t just shrug and say oh well-attrition. There are some serious problems on the coaching staff right now.

I’m not saying it can’t be fixed but I do think there is an obvious culture problem right now. Hopefully that’s due to youth with very few upperclassmen leaders left on the team. I don’t know what it is or how severe the problem is but there obviously is a problem

I’m sure there was some sense of complacency, too. Not just the players, but the coaches, especially since the majority are all older.

LSU lost what would have amounted to like 4 seasons worth of nfl prospects at a very solid SEC school like Auburn in one offseason

How is that overstated lol

1) lack of trust

Trust comes with working together over time and deep familiarity with the scheme.

quote:

2) disfunctional work environment

Can caused by disruptions caused by uncontrollable outside forces; e.g. hurricanes, pandemics.

3) selfishness

Is a pretty nebulous concept. There has to be a degree of selfishness for a great athlete to perform. e.g. "I want the ball" attitude in all sports. Such as a pitcher wanting to close out a tight game, a basketball player wanting to get that crucial rebound or a receiver fighting the d.b. for the ball.
