It seems to meet like alot of guys on this board as well as other I frequent are looking for Hatch to fail. Like their ashamed that we have a walk-on starting for a Natonal Championship team.

I honestly don't see Hatch making it the whole year as the starter, but I am no way routing for him to fail.

This is the same exact feeling I had when Randall started the year after the 03 championship. Everyone was looking for an excuse for Russell to play because honestly everyone knew we couldn't repeat and wanted to let a young QB take the position.

Ok so go ahead now and tell me how wrong I am, but this is what I get out of reading our message boards. I want to see JJ play asap also, but not at the expense of an LSU loss.

Neither have I. I am just stating that I have yet to see anyone really rally behind him. Everyone seems to want Lee or JJ.

Randall was never a first string SEC quality quarterback. Great athlete, but not a quarterback. I actually felt with Randall in there, we were already starting down. I wanted JR to play b/c I figured he couldn't do worse, so might as well get him started playing.

I have in no way...even on a board as wise arse as this one...heard anyone not rooting for Hatch.

I keep hoping that Hatch has a Danny Wuerffel kinds of year. He tore things up at UF but by no means did he have an NFL arm. He probably had a better arm than Hatch but mostly Wuerffel excelled with smarts and short passes.

I can't think of anything that would be cooler than beating the Gumps, UGA and UF with a walk-on transfer from Harvard. Wouldn't that be great?

I am still trying to figure out this "quarterback problem" LSU has. LSU won with Matt Mauck, they can win with Hatch, Lee and Jordon.

This team is too talented to let the QB position drag it down to anything other than a conference contender. As long as the QB's don't turn the ball over, LSU will be fine.

It's fairly common on this board. There is a whole heap of people who were pulling for JR to fail while at LSU and continue to hope for the same now that he is in the NFL.

There are also some people who were so fed up with the people I mentioned above that they took it out on Flynn.

People are stupid.

Matt Mauck was a 24 year old junior in '03, and he was drafted by the Packers. He also had significant starting experience under his belt. Lee and Jordan are 18 and 19 without single college snap between them. Hatch is not getting drafted. Mauck in '03 was a very good quarterback. This comparison does not work.

And no one is rooting for Hatch to fail. We just know that the ceiling of performance is higher with Lee. He has more talent. If he is ready to go, that is the best case scenario. JJ starting is most likely not realistic based on Miles' comments and that fact that JJ is totally green.

Whoever suits up, we'll all be behind him of course.

ETA - apparently, JJ is actually 17.

Do we?

Does he?

Lee may be better, but it's sure as shite not because of how many stars they had coming out of high school. I haven't seen enough of either one--hell, I haven't seen any of either one--to definitively say who is more talented.

And Mauck was drafted by the Broncos.

Hatch is by far the least talented of the 3. Just watch the camp videos, it obvious he doesn't have a SEC caliber arm. I don't think anyone expects Hatch to start for the next 3 years for LSU. If he won't, then I'd rather go with one of the guys who has all of the tools to start in the SEC for 3-4 years and let them take their lumps. Either way, our QB is gonna take some lumps b/c none have any experience. Might as way play the one w/ the most upside/talent. I don't think anyone will root against Hatch when he is named the starter. We all want whoever it is to succeed. I just don't see Hatch starting all year. I hope Les makes the right choice to begin with.

Hot Carl is right. Most fans seem to have decided, based on Lee's 4-star rating, that he's a better QB than Hatch the walk on. I'll leave the decision to Miles and Crowton.
