Nearly impossible because of California. See my previous post. Outside of CA, Trump won the popular vote by a 1.5 million votes in '16, and was still swamped by CA's totals.

The Popular Vote Compact does not go into effect if/until the state's participating in it total 270 EV's. They are nowhere close right now.

It is like these people never took civics/poli sci/history in HS or college. First it is "most votes win" It is not a true democracy, if it was we would be killing off leaders like the Romans and Greeks did. Then it is "every vote matters" well that is why we have an electoral college. Then it is "The Electors can change their vote" well that is also against state constitutions.
I mean what is with these folks? Didn't some of these people actually go to colleges, prestigious ones at that?

Not too long. The bitching about the usage of the Insurrection Act will take it’s place.

That's if states with 270 electoral votes agree to the compact. Which hasn't happened. Which means 0 states will follow that process for this election.

Pretty sure that doesn’t “take effect” until they have a 270 coalition.

Then the Supreme Court would strike it down like the ridiculous law that it is. It would need a constitutional amendment to be legitimate.
Explain please?
Article II of the constitution says " Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct". With the compact, the legislature of each state involved is deciding the manner in which they wish to appoint their electors. Entirely constitutional, no amendment needed as it doesn't directly get rid of the electoral college, it just changes how some states choose their electors, which the constitution says they may do.
