Improved any? They have had enough time to make some improvement.
Is the loss of talent the reason?

We have players that were studs that have regressed to below average. So how does that happen. Coaching! It’s the reason our wideouts look average without Joe Brady. It’s fricking PELINI.

Nobody on that side of the ball seems to care. It’s a leadership problem right now, but what they don’t understand is that they are screwing themselves over too. A lot of film of them sucking so far

We have no talent in the front 7 besides Ojulari and Gaye. Stevens, Hampton, and Harris have all played like absolute dog shite. Your defense is basically Stingley, Ricks, Gaye, Ojulari and guys that have been “meh” at best like Cox and Baskerville. Everyone else sucks.

What I see is a bunch of kids looking like a practice squad. Tell the truth Monday must include some players saying we do not believe in some of the coaching staff.

He's not a good coach either which is why he coached at Youngstown state for 5 years after Nebraska fired him.

What makes you say he isn’t terrible? Were other universities beating down his door? His coaching career has been on a downward spiral until O swooped in and gave him $2mil/year.

Not lack of talent...lack of experience. Young with no spring training & short preseason in person team practices...you can see it all over the NCAA.

The game has passed him by. He was good at stopping teams running the offenses of the old sec. these spread offenses always have him fits and everyone runs a variation of the spread now. He’s never adjusted

I think at one point Pelini was a very good coach. But he isn’t anymore.
The game has evolved and he very clearly has not. That makes him a bad coach on today’s game.

Listen to Brandon Taylor's rant. Players are soft. Spoiled. No leadership.

Been saying this. It’s a known fact Os success would be in his ability to surround himself with great coordinators. Problem is- it’s becoming apparent that he can’t properly select them.
His first hire- Canada. Nope.
His second- Ensminger. Nope. Had to go get a young genius to reinvent the offense. He gone.
His third- Pellini. Nope.
That’s it. He won it all- and I give him credit for that- by getting Burrow and Brady. But it’s becoming obvious that was a one-year plan he fell into and sustaining success- or possibly even a winning season- isn’t currently attainable. It’s a sad state of affairs. With no easy answers.

Pelini is a 4/3 guy. We have not had that for years. He simply does not have the players. 4/3 relies on good lineman and we do not have that right now.

‘Member when Steele was here and the defense sucked but then he went to Auburn and was elite?

IF that was explanation enough DCs everywhere wouldn't have specialist rush packages with DEs on the inside and 3-4 guys like Aranda having 4 or 5 guys with their hands in the dirt at times (or zero at times).
The idea that a defensive system completely fails because a 4 or 5 star player isn't of the prototypical body type for that position is ridiculous.
A more simple answer that player(s) haven't been taught how to execute in that system. Not that they are 15 lbs too heavy/light.
quote:And that's an excellent point. Steele wasn't good here because his system is quite complicated and in one year he wasn't able to install it. His zone is very similar to Bo's but with much more deceptive blitzs.

So, on one hand, is that the lesson that Bo needs to be given more than 1 year? I'll be the wife's car that is exactly the direction CEO is going to go.
On the other hand, if Bo's system hasn't evolved enough then that's fool's gold. Nay, fool's poop. I am of the opinion that it isn't about players, it's a disaster because Bo hasn't or hasn't been able to get the system taught. HOWEVER, once that happens I am [now] of the opinion that it will only turn an unmitigated disaster into a mitigated disaster.

He is God awful. Not only in his X’s & O’s but in his chemistry with today’s players. It has passed him by!

The team cohesion is the problem.
Venables/Steele/aranda can’t stop a team when their defensive players don’t care.
You all know what the problem is but you are just whistling past the graveyard if you don’t want to say it.
