He is top five. However, I know the person who wrote this thread. He has Peyton's wiener in his mouth so much it is really hard for me to do anything but disagree. It is hard to take anyone seriously whenever they have someone's penis in their mouth. It will not be the last Peyton Manning discussion that appears on this board due to Nico. The preseason has only just begun.

IMO, he needs 5 more seasons of the numbers with at least 1 more superbowl ring. He does those 2 things, and I'll have no problem having him right near or at the top

IMO, there is no way to judge until his career is over. He only has one Superbowl ring. There are others that have four (Bradshaw?). I believe that raw talent is not the only criteria. You've got to be a leader and to be able to lead your team to the top. If Peyton does that a few more times, then he'll be in the running for the top spot, but not before then.

And having Hall of Fame caliber teammates (and an excellent defense) has nothing to do with it, right?

I think it does have something to do with it. My point is that the most talented guy can't be called the "greatest ever" unless he's won a few. Manning has the talent around him. If he fails to accumlate any more rings, then he doesn't get the title of "greatest ever."

While I don't agree, at least you started a thread with the right intentions insted of starting a hypothetical thread in order to discredit the only other guy playing right now that's in the discussion.

Would This Tarnish A QB's Legacy

I understand. I just don't think that anyone can claim one guy as the greatest QB/player of all time in the NFL. There are just too many variables involved. There are some guys that are obviously in a different class, (Montana, Elway, Unitas, etc.) but I can't really pick which one is the greatest ever.

I agree and it's all subjective anyway. If your criteria is talent, talent is in the eyes of the beholder. If your criteria is championships, then you can't really attribute champtionships to the play of an individual. Just look at LSU's recent championships. Can't attribute those to awesome QBs.
