Burrow ran something like that last year against Georgia I think. It exists but it’s way outside the norm. There’s pass options out of the veer at times too but it’s not what comes to mind when you say RPO

That’s why I called it a gadget play. It’s in the playbook, but it’s something you run sporadically.

You can count on one hand the amount of times joe burrow ran the ball on plan in an RPO play last year,. Probably even 3 fingers.

Finley has ran the ball 4x in the 1Q & not one of them have been RPO plays lol
And a 5th attempt was called back on a penalty

Find me a play in the game where Finley runs the ball on an RPO where the WRs are running routes.
According to SECStatCat there are a few:
- Drive #1, snap #7, 1st quarter, 1st & 10, RPO draw
- Drive #2, snap #24, 1st quarter, 2nd & goal, RPO counter
- Drive #7, snap #56, 4th quarter, 2nd & 7, RPO draw
I’m not saying that’s accurate, just that they charted them as RPO’s. I haven’t gone back to watch any of these plays, and I have no idea how SECStatCat can differentiate between an RPO draw and a non-RPO draw without actually knowing the play call. They should be pretty much indistinguishable if the draw is executed correctly.
(I am also in no way defending that other poster’s terrible takes. )

Are you re-watching the game to prove Bean wrong? I love it

I rewatch every game figured this would be a good time
Just had a 6th run. Zone read

Is that really what we’re talking about though?
If there isn’t an option to the back are you creating gap conflict? How does a QB draw bring the Defenders up to get the WR free?
It doesn’t. It’s the opposite - you’re trying to get the LB to bite on the pass to open the run lane, rather than getting him to bite on the run to open the passing lane.

So is it a RPO?
Or just giving your QB the option to take off an run?
Or just giving your QB the option to take off an run?

Yup, these are the plays I was talking about on the first drive.
They were charted as RPO’s because they were RPO’s
The WR’s were in routes etc.
On a zone reads the WR’s block.
Sorry not sorry cry all you want rantards.

Wr’s were in routes. Meaning TJ could pass, depending upon his read

I mean.. yeah, it’s an RPO if the QB has an option to actually pass rather than run the draw. If his read is (for example) throw the drag if the slot WR burns the OLB, or run the draw if the LB stays with the slot WR.. that’s a designed RPO.
If he just runs because the WR is covered and it’s not part of the play design, that’s a scramble.
Again I’m not saying it’s all that common, just that it’s technically still an RPO even if you’re in 00 or 01 personnel.
ETA:

Just to clarify, the difference would be that in one case, the QB just decides to scramble. In the other case, the OL are actually blocking it as a draw. Since the OL are showing pass initially on a draw play, you can also run a longer-developing route before they get too far downfield.

When you do dont forget to factor in that QBs can run from an RPO! No its not automatcally a zone read if the qb runs like youve been preaching.
And learn to pay attention to what the wr’s and oline are doing.
Thanks for playing!

Lol no they aren’t

Designed run, the WRs are running the DBs off like they are supposed to do for a draw. It’s supposed to look like a pass. I can guarantee you there is no pass option on this play

Drive #2, snap #24, 1st quarter, 2nd & goal, RPO counter
Again, a designed run. Gilbert is pulling across the formation to block for Finley, as does Hines from his G position, and McMath, the lone WR to the play side, is jogging. Ed Ingram is 5 yards downfield lol. These are not RPOs

I regret my post already. It’s pretty clear that you have no clue and are making this shite up as you go. The plays I posted were draws (according to the chart) and look nothing like a zone read. WR’s run routes on draw plays. I even commented that I don’t know how SECStatCat can possibly know whether they’re RPO’s, since a normal draw would be indistinguishable without knowing the play call.
And then here you come... “Yep! Those are the play!” Like a moth to flame.

Right. The website shows we ran about 6 RPO including a QB Run RPO on the first drive alone, like I said. LOL
LINK
Ok LEarl, all the websites are wrong, including secstarcat.com, which is like the tenth website you said is wrong. LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Too funny

Naw. Idiots gonna idiot.
Secstatcat.com CLEARLY has it as an RPO draw to TJ. Which we cant run with Myles.
So yeah, your wrong and clueless!
