New Orleans couple robbed and beaten in front of crowd in CBD- crowd cheered

A New Orleans husband and wife say they were robbed and beaten in the Central Business District as a crowd watched. Mary Lorenz and Johnston Smith said they were attacked Friday at the intersection of Carondelet and Common Streets. They said say there was a large group of people in the street partying. They said a group was laughing and cheering on the suspects as the terrifying attack unfolded.
Police released pictures of the suspects they are looking for. Smith and Lorenz said around 10 p.m. Friday they were walking to their car after celebrating a friends birthday dinner in the French Quarter.
They say the suspects came up from behind.

That corner is where Brothers Food Mart is at. They serve some of the best fried chicken in the CBD but it gets damn sketchy at night. They have a Sheriffs Deputy working there off duty during Mardi Gras and last time I was in there the dude looked terrified. The crowds were off the chain and standing around in the street blocking traffic and generally not giving a shite. I could see how the story in the OP happened.
I still risked my life for that fried chicken during Mardi Gras. Drunk me needed it.
One of these times, some baw is going to pull a gun and slay six or seven of these people perpetrating a group attack and it will be interesting to see how the Mayor and media reacts.
