My wife and I are trying to get in the Halloween spirit by watching some horror movies. I have seen most of the classics but am out of the loop for the last 5-10 years. Can you guys recommend me some good horror movies from the last decade?

Not really a big horror film guy but Orphan and It Follows are a couple of movies in that genre that I enjoyed watching.

I always recommend ghost stories in these threads...they're always more interesting and better made than slasher/killer films.
The Changeling (George C. Scott)
The Orphanage (awesome movie)
The Others (Nicole Kidman)
The Awakening (Rebecca Hall)

Watch
The Guest
It Follows
These are newer, low budget true to the classics feeling borrow movies.
I also recommend The Babysitter for comedy/horror mix.
For “recent” slashers I’ll recommend Hatchet and High Tension (not sure this totally fits slasher but it’s very good)

Best thing in the last few years was probably Hereditary. You can tell people in the theater are getting freaked out when you start hearing nervous laughter after scary parts.
My wife still gets mad when I click my tongue like that creepy red haired girl.

Last 10 years:
It Follows (Some of the greatest sound mixing in the history of film IMO)
Sinister (8mm film home movies are some of the most terrifying shite I've ever watched)
Insidious (Novel concept with great set pieces and good acting)
The Woman in Black (underrated IMO)
It Chapter 1 (Incredible performance by Skarsgard as It)
You're Next (one of the smartest main characters in horror movies ever)
The Strangers (2008 but idc. Horribly tragic and actually quite realistic)
There have been a lot of gems in the horror genre over the last decade.
