The amount of people that throw shite out of the vehicles while driving down the road just boggles my mind. Why is it so hard to leave your empty cup or bottle in the cup holder and throw it out when you get to a trash can. Plus the shite that flies out of those roll off dumpsters and garbage trucks is unreal.

It's stuff flying out of people's pickup trucks, too. I see it happen all the time...people toss shite in their truck bed not realizing it's going to fly out. Just stupid. And then theirs the lawn chairs, large TV boxes, large whatever, you see sitting on the side of the road that fell out of someones truck. Mind boggling...

I can remember seeing people throw trash directly from their car twice in my 34 years. Both times were right there on 61 headed into Prairieville.

There's a ditch on my families old property. When I was little that ditch was at least 8-10' deep now that ditch probably isn't 2-3' deep and it hasn't been cleaned out since I was in elementary school and I'm 50 now. There's a lot of work needs to be done with the ditches and canals in Ascension parish.

I’ve submitted 5 requests for the ditch in front of mine to be redug and cleaned out over the past four years. Each time they tell me they will get to it and it never gets done. frick Ascension Parish and LA DOTD.

So many politicians on the take there. Lived there for over 20 years and wont go back. Prolly one of the richest parishes tax wise. Still has lots of issues.

It'll be a problem until people quit littering. They can't pick it up as quick as people litter. Plus, the parish should be able to use that money on other projects instead of paying to have people pick up other people's trash.

It's not popular, but more folks need to take pride in our state and their neighborhoods.

Have you seen these guys mow? They can barely be bothered to steer the mowers and now you want them to pick up trash, too? What's wrong with you.

All of the major roads like Airline Highway and any other state Road in the parish are handled by the state. The parish can only take care of the roads that are owned by the parish. The parish is currently working on a contract with DOTD to start to maintain those roads but until that passes it is up to the state to handle it.

This is my understanding. Highway 190 in St. Tammany, for instance, is a state highway. I've called the parish once to ask the it was looking like such a dump...litter, medians growing 3 feet high, and they just said "that's a state highway, you'd have to call DOTD."

So does this mean that a parish is 'not allowed' to maintain state roads? Why can't a parish come in and work in conjunction with the DOTD to provide additional maintenance for certain roads?

Damn right, I live in downtown. Not Duckroost or Galvez.

Like comparing Staten Island to Manhattan when saying NYC.
