Baws (and Lady in TX) it appears the baseball Gods have forgiven us. Today we thank them for the blessing of George Chelston Springer III. May they see so fit to provide us a tomorrow with him.

Play Ball.

I’m going to stomp around and make my face red like a petulant child when we don’t resign George.

The no days off for a 7 game series is kinda wild for the staffs.

Yeah it’s weird they didn’t just give them the normal off days even without travel

MLB.com Article About Astros

quote:

The Astros’ quintet of Springer, Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Yuli Gurriel and Carlos Correa played their 54th postseason game together, a Major League record. They broke the previous record for a quintet, passing the 53 playoff games together by two groups of Yankees, according to research by James Smyth of the YES Network.

That's cool.

quote:

When Baker was asked who will be his starting pitcher for Game 5, he seemed to run down the possibilities in his mind, eliminating Framber Valdez and Lance McCullers Jr..

Seems like he wants to save Frambaw and McCullers for a potential 6 and 7 on full rest.

Which means... Garcia starts probably? Garcia, James, and De Jong are the only guys in the pen that have started games this season. I'd go with Garcia first if I was in charge, then have James for hopefully two, as scary as that sounds. Paredes/Raley/Scrubb/Taylor in some combo to finish it off.

If James could be functional like he was the other night, a tandem of Garcia/James for 5 or 6 might be our best option. I don't want De Jong near this one.

Yeah, with a travel day there wouldn't be any doubts

The Rays keep putting pen guys out there with smoke, too

But their last guy last night didn't fit the bill.

If Astros can get to where they can have QABs, instead of trying to hit FBs when pitcher is trying to get ahead in the count (ie swinging at first pitch), we could finally get a crooked number

Would be nice to have a lead when this joke of playoff baseball in the afternoon darkness commences

I think we see James for a couple innings at some point. Pressly is also available (yeah, I know. Don't shoot the messenger)

DeJong scares the shite out of me. I saw him pitch a couple times this year and he was pretty good the first time through the order, then he got the shite beat out of him the second time. If he pitches, Dusty better be smart enough to only send him through the order once.

If this turns into a slugfest, I think it is advantage Astros.

If we can somehow survive today's clusterfrick, we have a puncher's chance to pull off a miracle with Frambaw and McCullers.

I don't want to see any part of De Jong or Sneed unless the game has gotten out of hand.

I like the idea of an opener in front of Garcia. I'd roll with Raley and see what you can get out of him.

Just good to have the young arms get a chance to get some experience and to see these core guys from the best Astros team ever play one more time together

Watching that Springer swing last night reminded me of his game tying shot in Game 5 over the tracks, and it felt good.

Springer played hard all season. I know it was his contract year, but nevertheless

A small part of me wants to see Dusty announce Sneed as the starter for tonight, just to be witness to the melt that would occur within our gathering here.

Nah. frick that He should only be seen if we are down about 10 runs or up 20.
